NCAA QUALIFIERS carter, 4x400 relay ranked no. 1 Sophomore Xavier Carter (200 meters) and the men’s 4x400-meter relay team earned the country’s top AUTOMATIC billing in the first Dandy Dozen rankings of the 2006 season. Carter, the 2005 SEC Freshman Indoor and Outdoor Runner of the Year, earned NCAA runner-up in the 200 meters last season after winning Men both the SEC and NCAA Mideast Regional titles. Weight Throw (69-66.75 [21.20]/62-44 [19.00]) since the ncaa outdoor championships Rabun Fox ...... 48-8 Following the completion of the collegiate season at the 2005 NCAA Outdoor Championships several members of the current LSU squad gathered invaluable big-meet experience while representing their Heptathlon (5,650/5,200) native countries at national championships meets and the 2005 World Championships. Sophomore No marks Kelly Baptiste won both the 100 and 200 meters titles at the national champi- onships. She went on to advance to the quarterfinals in the 100 meters at the World Championships in Helsinki, Finland. Five athletes, in Tigers Xavier Carter and Kelly Willie, and Lady Tigers Tanya Osbourne, Deonna Lawrence and Amanda Harmata competed at the USA Championships. Carter advanced to the finals of the men’s 200 meters and placed ninth overall, while Willie made it to the semifinal round of the 400 meters. On the women’s side, Osbourne was the only collegiate athlete to advance to the finals in the women’s 800 meters. Both Lawrence and Harmata competed in the USA meet’s junior division where Lawrence recorded a fifth-place finish in the 400 meters and Harmata turned in a 10th-place showing in the javelin. Also competing in junior competition was Andrea Linton. Linton finished third in the triple jump at the Jamaican National Championships to earn a trip to the World Junior Championships.
