Criss-crossing the length of the festival, it’s impossible to avoid the Q Stage, easily the loudest stage at the festival and possibly in the history of anything. Grazing the rear of the enormous crowd, it’s clear that will never die. The music is hopelessly catchy and on the journey to

Regardless of opinion, he’s a captivating and charismatic presence, and the ecstatic crowd are provided with the full Aoki experience — lights, strobes and missile-like cakes. ‘Pursuit Of Happyness’ in particular is a song for the EDM age. DJ Mag even manages to get a picture with the cake-missile recipient.

Canadian superstar is next on the main stage and the contrast in styles is immediately obvious. Foregoing the trademark Mau5 head also appears to be confusing the festival crowd — it seems that many are failing to recognise Joel Zimmerman without the mask. On music quality alone, however, Deadmau5 is DJ Mag’s favourite set of the weekend. ‘Polaris’, ‘Ghosts & Stuff’ and ‘Raise Your Weapon’ are blinding tracks, expertly delivered.

Able to rock a festival main stage as he is an intimate beach party, or hammer an hour-long set as he is a 10-hour marathon, it doesn’t come as much surprise that Riva Starr is one of the most sought-after names in the modern house scene.
