2016-17 Longwood Women’s Basketball • 3 2016-17 SEASON OUTLOOK

New expectations are set for the Lancers in 2016-17 with a blend of experience and youth. Longwood returns 10 letterwin- ners from an injury-riddled 8-22 team a season ago and welcomes five newcomers that will add size and depth for the 2016-17 campaign. Head coach Bill Reinson enters his seventh season as the bench boss of the blue and white, amassing a 47-128 overall record in his previ- ous six seasons. Junior Autumn Childress looks to take that next step for the Lancers, as she has the potential to step into a starter’s role and will be counted on on the offensive end of the floor. Meanwhile, Ellis will be counted on in a leadership role after serving as a team captain as a sophomore last season. The 5-5, pass-first Ellis ranked among the top-five in the con- ference with 2.9 assists per game. She secured three or more assists in 19 games while registering five-plus dimes on five occasions.
