Looking for Personality Perception, Translation, Meaning Peter Geyer I Promise You, I Won't Leave a Clue
Looking for Personality perception, translation, meaning Peter Geyer I promise you, I won't leave a clue. No tell-tale remark, no print of my shoe… Have I reached the point where I should take my cue and follow you and your signs? Peter Hammill 1972 Recently, I met someone at a friend's place, who asked me what I did. My reply, "I teach people about personality" was met with "you mean, how to get more?" I found I couldn't respond to those words in any detail, in part because "personality" had for each of us quite a different meaning and I didn't want to launch into a complex explication of what I taught: the gap seemed too much and the situation didn't seem appropriate. So I replied that what I did wasn't much like what she had said and left it at that. I also made a personal judgement on how open this person seemed to be to ambiguity, abstraction and the ability to listen, which may, of course, have been incorrect, but I'm trying to learn more about when to open my mouth and when to be silent about what I do and what it is. One of the difficulties of teaching type is that different meanings have to be provided for its terms. So "personality" is not about "more" or "less", or even "having" such a thing. All these relate to the public person, the world of celebrity, fame and notoriety perhaps, but also the expression of affect, dominance (e.g. -

Stuart Macgill CRICKET
Stuart MacGill CRICKET Stuart Charles Glyndwr MacGill (b. 25 February 1971, Mount Lawley, Perth) is a right-arm leg spin bowler of the Australian cricket team. Some close to Stuart say he is really a fast bowler trapped in a spin bowlers body! SCG MacGill began his domestic career for his home state of Western Australia in ‘93/’94 but became a regular starter when he moved to New South Wales in the ‘96/’97 season. In his first match for NSW he took 6 wickets and followed the season with a stint at county cricket for Somerset. But 1997/98 was the breakthrough season for MacGill, in which he made his Test debut and finished with 35 wickets at 28.14 in the Sheffield Shield. He made his debut for Australia in the 3rd Test against South Africa at Adelaide in January 1998. As the second spinner he made a valuable contribution taking 3/22 in the second innings to help Australia hold on to a draw. He next appeared in October of that year for a tour of Pakistan, finishing the series as Australia's top wicket taker with 15 victims at 27.46. MacGill kept his spot in the side when they returned home for an Ashes series, again finishing as Australia's most successful bowler with 27 wickets at 17.70. His tally included his then career best innings figures of 7 for 50, made in the 5th Test at Sydney, taking a total of 12 wickets for the match. MacGill’s record is one of the finest of any leg spinner.
