SAWYER BROWN COMES to the FLORIDA THEATRE on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2021 Tickets on Sale Friday, August 6, 2021 at 10:00 A.M SAWYER BROWN COMES TO THE FLORIDA THEATRE ON THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2021 Tickets On Sale Friday, August 6, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Jacksonville, Fla. (August 2, 2021) – The Florida Theatre is pleased to welcome Sawyer Brown on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 8:00 p.m. Florida’s own Sawyer Brown is a country music band that spans 3 decades. Originally formed in 1981 in Apopka, Florida, the band has released 18 studio albums and charted over fifty times on the Hot Country Songs charts, including three number one singles; “ Step That Step” , “ Some Girls Do” and “ Thank God For You” . The group's members were originally part of country pop singer Don King's road band. When King stopped touring in 1981, the group decided to stay together and eventually auditioned for Star Search in 1983. They won the grand prize of $100,000 and a recording contract. The band signed with Capitol Records and scored a Top 20 hit with their first single, " Leona" , in 1984. That success was quickly followed by their first number one hit, "Step That Step". Sawyer Brown is comprised of Mark Miller (lead vocals), Gregg Hubbard (keyboards/ piano), Joe Smyth (drums/percussion) and Shayne Hill (lead guitar). Vocalist Mark Miller has written many of Sawyer Brown’s hits, including “ Step That Step,” “ The Walk,” “ Thank God for You,” “ The Boys and Me,” as well as the band’s anthem: “ Some Girls Do.” Miller is also responsible for discovering the band Casting Crowns and has produced all of the band’s CDs, winning a Grammy for his work with them along the way. In April 2013, Ring the Bell, a movie that Mark wrote and produced, was released—and he has more movies in the pre- production stage. The historic, nonprofit Florida Theatre is sponsored by Community First Credit Union. Charleston Touch, Charleston Cha-Cha, Charleston Cowboy) Choreographed by Jeanette Hall & Tonya Miller Description: 16 count, 4 wall, line dance Music: New York, New York by Frank Sinatra [111 bpm / CD Single / Available on iTunes] (This Thing Called) Wantin' And Havin' It All by Sawyer Brown [221 bpm / CD: Nashville Collection V.2] Sold by John Michael Montgomery [120 bpm / John Michael Montgomery / Greatest Hits / CD: Country Fun / Available on iTunes] Jambalaya (On The Bayou) by Eddy Raven & Jo-El Sonnier [125 bpm / CD: Line Dance Fever 8 / Cookin' Cajun] Rompin' Stompin' by Scooter Lee [192 bpm / High Test Love / Available on iTunes] Any fairly fast western swing music This dance adapts the fun Roaring Twenties Flapper Dance, the Charleston, into a great Country and Western Line Dance. It is fairly unique in that it can be done to music which is fairly fast It is sometimes done with a straight step forward and back pattern. However, the most fun way to do it is with the real Charleston foot pattern and arm movements as it is done in the Carolinas where the Charleston originated, and where it is widely done The classic Charleston step includes moving the right foot forward and out and around in a 1/2 circle to touch forward on Count 1. At the same time, the arms are moved first to the right to compensate for the movement of the right foot out around to the front and back in to touch forward.
