Telenet is extending Yelo, its multimedia platform. Yelo is an innovative platform offering a top-quality experience and giving consumers access to entertainment wherever and whenever they want. Thanks to Yelo, everyone will be able to enjoy their own programmes on their own device, whether it is a PC, tablet or iOS – and now Android as well. You can watch TV, check the TV guide or programme your Digicorder wherever you are. More than a year after the launch of Yelo, the multimedia platform can boast some positive results. We now have no less than 260,000 Yelo users. One striking finding is that consumers prefer to watch sport on their PCs. Another interesting detail is that children’s programmes are two and a half times more likely to be viewed on a tablet or smartphone than on a PC. More channels Telenet is giving the Yelo platform a boost with no less than 14 new channels. As of now, there will also be access to not just VT4 and VijfTV but plenty of channels in French as well. For instance, customers will be able to watch La Une, La Deux, La Trois, RTL-TVi, Club RTL, and Plug RTL via the application and website. Kanaal Z, Xite, CNBC, Ment, Actua TV and Bloomberg are also being added to the assortment of channels. This brings the total number of channels that can be watched live via Yelo.be or the Yelo app to 31. Now also on Android The updated application is now also available for Android users. They were able to use the platform before via the site www.yelo.be, but now they can also download the app from the Android Market. As a result, Telenet customers will be able to access Yelo not just via their PCs, iPhones or iPads but also on their Android tablets. New layout After Yelo’s launch, large numbers of users shared their experiences with Telenet. They made all kinds of suggestions on how to improve the platform. The co-creation has resulted in a new look & feel for both blog.telenet.be twitter.com/telenet youtube.com/telenet facebook.com/telenet PRESS RELEASE the website and the application. Yelo is also available through the homespots currently being rolled out throughout Flanders. New payment method The new version of Yelo also has a new payment method. Club RTL’s new slogan: Make your choice! Belgium - 17 February 2011 What is the strategy of RTL Belgium? Over the years RTL Belgium has created a strong, tight-knit, complementary family. Strong, because it is the clear leader in the French-speaking market in Belgium, which may be small at 4 million people, but is fiercely competitive because it is also open to French channels. Consequently, the Belgian market poses a real challenge, but this did not prevent RTL Belgium from proudly attaining a combined prime time audience share of 34 per cent in 2010. Tight-knit because our family is full of team spirit. All our teams, whether involved in production or programming, have a transversal culture.

  • The Role of Commercial Radio Stations in the Media Vacuum of Mai 68 in Paris
volume 7 issue 12/2018 THE ROLE OF COMMERCIAL RADIO STATIONS IN THE MEDIA VACUUM OF MAI 68 IN PARIS Richard Legay C²DH Luxembourg Centre for Contemporary and Digital History Université du Luxembourg Maison des Sciences Humaines 11, Porte des Sciences L - 4366 Esch-Belval Luxembourg [email protected] Abstract: Commercial radio stations RTL and Europe n°1 played an important role during the events of May 1968 in Paris by maintaining the news coverage of the protests, the riots and the strikes. By analyzing the entanglements of the various audiovisual media and surviving audio material, this article defends the idea that a vacuum created by the crisis that affected the French public broadcasting agency is one of the main reasons that brought the commercial radio stations to the centre of the events. Keywords: radio, France, entanglements, ORTF, RTL, Europe 1. The media played a crucial role in the understanding of the events of Mai 68 in Paris, as the video footage and numerous photographs available to historians revealed. These great testimonies were tremendous sources for researchers. In France however, it was the commercial radio stations that were at the centre of attention during the events,1 as they were the main source of information through their live news coverage of Mai 68. The radio stations RTL (Radio-Télévision-Luxembourg) and Europe n°1 were listened to by many throughout the entire month and were even nicknamed “radio barricades” by Prime Minister Georges Pompidou.2 Through this live coverage of events, the commercial radio stations informed listeners of what was happening and where; they retransmitted important speeches and gave a voice to crucial actors.
