Product Description

Trixene SC7906 is a urethane bisoxazolidine which can be used in one and two pack light stable polyurethanes. The product allows formulation of high build void free coatings, sealants and Elastomers, which are stable until exposure to moisture. On exposure the product hydrolyses giving four possible sites of reaction. Formulating with different equivalent weights can alter physical properties.

Trixene SC7906 shows good storage stability in sealed containers and is generally insensitive to hydrolysis. The presence of isocyanate prepolymers and moisture causes the hydrolysis reaction speed to increase and further reaction with isocyanates takes place quite rapidly.

On exposure to water or atmospheric moisture in the presence of an aliphatic isocyanate prepolymer Trixene SC7906 hydrolyses to release two primary hydroxyl and two secondary amine groups. The formulator can alter the properties of the coating or sealant by modifying the amount of Trixene SC7906 in the formulation. Using the equivalent weight 122 will react all four active sites and give higher tensile and tear strength, whereas using the equivalent weight 244 will react the secondary amine sites only. This will result in higher elongation and a reduction in Tensile and tear resistance.

Compatibility

Trixene SC7906 is compatible with most common solvents including Acetates, Ketones, Aldehydes and aromatics. Viscosity can also be modified by using Dioctyl Adipate plasticiser.

When using Trixene SC7906 for one pack systems with isocyanate and prepolymers, solvents containing active hydrogen should be avoided.

When using Trixene SC7906 for 2-pack systems the product is compatible with most commercially available polyols.
