Document accompanying manuscript reads, "A religious Acc. 2013/8 n.d. 1 item manuscript, said to be of considerable age, from the Paukang Pagoda, Paukang, Upper Burma. It was presented to a British Solider (Sergeant [BLANK], Wigan Drill Hall), during the Burmese Rebellion of 1931, by a Burmese, whose name appears in pencil on the last leaf, as a reward for saving his life. It was acquired by the Wigan Public Library in May 1934, by purchase from Mr. T. J. Cheetham, 14 Moores Street, Wigan." Includes letter from Library to Hawkes (Borough Librarian), saying that they are unable to offer any information on the contents or origin of the manuscript.
