Alleigh came to Big Brothers Big Sister with a desire to help a Little build up her confidence and her sense of adventure, and Morgan was looking for an outlet and a safe space to be a kid. Their relationship has changed through the years- starting at building up mutual trust, learning to be open and vulnerable to finally working through some of the toughest challenges that life can throw at them. Through it all, Alleigh and Morgan have stuck together. Alleigh has taken every opportunity to remind Morgan of her value and importance even when Morgan does not seem to see it. And Morgan has given Alleigh years of laughter, a growing friendship and a deep love for Pizza Ranch! Our youth mentoring program preventatively addresses the community need for mentoring youth to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness, resulting in self-sufficiency. We provide children facing adversity – defined as children in families with recognized risk factors such as single parent/guardian, poverty/homelessness and incarceration – with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships. Children become responsible, productive citizens able to achieve lifelong success, communities are safer and organizations benefit from a better prepared workforce.
