Since co founding The Kantner, Balin, Casady Band in 1985, Aguilar performed longer with the late Paul Kantner & with Marty Balin - and played the songs of Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship more than any other musician ever. Mark Karan, lead guitarist with Bob Weir’s Rat Dog and The Other Ones for 14 years, now also appears with Phil Lesh & the Terrapin Family Band. Mike Falzarano, a long time member of Jefferson Airplane spinoff Hot Tuna in the 1980s; and, in recent years, helped forge and lead a resurgent, acclaimed iteration of Grateful Dead spinoff, The New Riders Of The Purple Sage.

  • FRED NEIL LYRICS Compiled by Robin Dunn & Chrissie Van Varik
FRED NEIL LYRICS Compiled by Robin Dunn & Chrissie van Varik. Fred Neil (16 th March 1936 –7th July 2001) was one of the most compelling folk singer-songwriters in the 1960s and early 1970s. His marvellously deep, rich and impossibly low baritone enchanted everyone who has ever heard a Fred Neil song - and continues to do so. Surely one of the most beautiful voices in music. Bob Dylan said, “Fred had a strong, powerful voice, almost a bass voice, and a powerful sense of rhythm. He used to play mostly the type of songs that Josh White might sing. I used to sing and play harmonica for him, and then once in a while get to sing a song.” Yet as performer success eluded Fred, mainly because it was the last thing he pursued. A reluctance to tour didn’t help much either (a trait he shared with Bobby Charles and Harry Nilsson). According to his producer, Nik Venet, Fred was “probably the most famous and financially successful ‘cult artist’ in the history of the world...and could have been even bigger if he’d wanted to be....but he just didn’t!” Fred Neil showed up unexpectedly and was gone before you knew it. A loner and somewhat of a recluse, he was exceedingly hard to get to know and thus remained an enigma to most. John Sebastian, who played on his two Elektra albums, describes his background as “sketchy”. He is best known to the world through other people’s recordings of his material, such as ‘Everybody’s Talkin’’, made famous by Harry Nilsson as the theme to the movie Midnight Cowboy (and earned a Grammy) and ‘Other Side of This Life’, recorded by several but most notably by Jefferson Airplane.

My early musical heroes were Dion, Paul Anka, Neil Sedaka, Little Eva, Ray Charles, Chubby Checker, Gene Pitney, Roy Orbison, The Four Tops and, Stevie Wonder…. My parents were also music fans. • Grace Slick Songs White Rabbit
Grace slick songs white rabbit Continue One pill makes you bigger and the pill makes you small... Sometime in the summer of 2016, this isolated track of Grace Seleka's vocals for The White Rabbit - perhaps the most famous song for Jefferson Airplane and certainly one of the top ten psychedelic songs of the late '60s - featured YouTube. As these things go, no one took credit, but everyone on the internet was thankful. Drenched in echo, spot sings with military precision, perfectly in driving her vibrator and dipping and rising all through the Phrygian scale (also known as the Spanish scale or Gypsy.) No wonder, the song was written in 1965 after an LSD trip at her Marin County home where Slick listened to Miles Davis' drawings from Spain repeatedly for 24 hours. Compare the original version to the Solia Davis track to hear what I mean. Bob Irwin, who was responsible for remastering Jefferson's plane in a catalog in 2003, was the first to hear slick vocals isolated many years later: when I was putting up multiple tracks for shows to something like White Rabbit and Grace's vocal isolation... You can't believe the intensity in that sound. It is a hair education, and absolutely unreasonable. I was telling Bill Thompson about it it's not that I'm too seasoned that nothing surprises me, but boy boy, when I put that multiplayer up and Heard Grace's vocal solo Ed, it's absolutely a quiet whisper, and there's no ounce of leakage in there at all, you can hear all the same drawn intensity and focus..

  • Jefferson Starship
2008 BIOGRAPHIC INFORMATION JEFFERSON STARSHIP 2008 Bio Capsules PAUL KANTNER, along with MARTY BALIN founded JEFFERSON AIRPLANE in 1965. THE AIRPLANE were the biggest rock group in America during the 1960s and the first San Francisco band to sign a major record deal, paving the way for other legends like GRATEFUL DEAD & JANIS JOPLIN. They headlined the original WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL in 1969 and like THE BEATLES with whom they are critically compared, lasted a mere 7 years ... though their influence and impact on rock music continues well into the 21st century. In 1974 Mr. KANTNER created JEFFERSON STARSHIP and again with Mr. BALIN, enjoyed chart-topping success. PAUL, MARTY & JEFFERSON AIRPLANE were inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1996, the same year as PINK FLOYD. In 2005 they celebrated their 40th anniversary, playing 21 countries on their world tour. In 2007 they headlined “The Summer of Love 40th Anniversary Celebration” and performed at The Monterey Pop commemorative on the exact same stage as the historic landmark rock festival of 1967. JEFFERSON STARSHIP, the name created by PAUL for his 1971 solo debut “Blows Against The Empire” recording has endured 37 years as rock music’s premier “political science fiction” themed band. That recording was the first and only to ever be nominated for literary science fiction’s Hugo Award … a stellar achievement. DAVID FREIBERG is co-founder of the legendary Avalon/Carousel/Fillmore era San Francisco band who along with THE DEAD & THE AIRPLANE), often shared the bill. DAVID is an extraordinary singer, producer and multi- instrumentalist who plays guitar, bass, viola and keyboards.
