093_HR0471 LRB093 13270 KEF 18539 r 1 HOUSE RESOLUTION 2 WHEREAS, Television station KHQA is celebrating a 3 milestone this year with its 50th anniversary; KHQA first 4 signed on the air in Hannibal, Missouri on September 23, 5 1953; and 6 WHEREAS, Some of the personalities of the day brought 7 viewers news and family programs such as the Cactus Jim Show, 8 Rono the Clown, live studio concerts, talk shows, and the 9 station's own cooking show; and 10 WHEREAS, A year later, the station moved to the Western 11 Catholic Union Building in Quincy, Illinois which put the 12 station at the heart of the city and gave everyone at the 13 station a great view of the Mississippi River; in 1998, the 14 station moved to a new building on South 36th Street that is 15 equipped with state-of-the-art technology; recently the 16 station added a high definition transmitter which brought 17 true high definition television to West Central Illinois; and 18 WHEREAS, From the beginning, KHQA was a sister station to 19 AM radio station WTAD, and later became a sister station to 20 FM radio station WQCY; the stations parted ways when they 21 were sold to separate owners in 1986; KHQA's current owner is 22 Chelsey Broadcasting Co., LLC of Garden City, New York; 23 therefore, be it 24 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 25 NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 26 we congratulate KHQA on the occasion of the 50th anniversary 27 of its first broadcast; and be it further 28 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 29 presented to KHQA as an expression of respect and esteem for 30 its many years of service to West Central Illinois..

This year, the first of five new elementary schools will open and ground will be broken for a second school. When the project is complete, funded by an $89 million referendum passed easily by voters in 2014, Quincy will have five new elementary schools for children in grades K-5, one of the most beautiful junior high schools in the state of Illinois for our 6th-8th graders and an expanded high school for grades 9-12. Add these new facilities to the community’s strong parochial school system that includes four Roman Catholic elementary schools, Quincy Christian School, St. James Lutheran School and Quincy Notre Dame High School, a strong community college and multiple four-year liberal arts universities within driving distance, and it is obvious that Quincyans are taking care of the future of our community. Right on Q is the new rally cry for Quincy and Adams County. You’ll see it in the way area residents arrive, right on cue, to fill sandbags to protect their neighbors from a rising Mississippi River, when people need a hand or visitors need a welcome.

5K 10K Half Marathon May 18, 2019 Quincy, IL BRIDGETHEGAPTOHEALTH.COM WELCOME LETTER Welcome to the 19th annual Bridge the Gap to Health Race presented by the QMG Healthcare Foundation. We are proud to host this family-friendly event once again and sincerely appreciate your participation. We hope you will find this booklet helpful as you plan for this year’s event. You will not only find helpful information about packet pick-up and race day, but you will also see a few additions and improvements to this year’s race which include a shuttle service and new race swag. Bridge the Gap – or BTG as we like to call it – has a little bit of everything. Stunning views of the Mississippi from the two bridges that connect Quincy to Missouri, a trip through The District and down historic Maine Street for our 10K and half marathon participants, a Kid’s Fun Run for the smallest of our participants, and some of the best volunteers you have ever met! All proceeds from the race benefit Quincy Catholic Charities’ MedAssist Program. This program works with those who are not able to afford their prescribed medications. Since it began in 2001, BTG has raised nearly $800,000 which has been used to leverage more than $18 million in life- saving prescription medication for individuals in our community. This race changes lives, and we are thankful for your help to continue our mission to Bridge the Gap to Health. We look forward to another successful year and hope you have a great experience.
