    Creation of the CLERICAL ASSOCIATION of the Emmanuel Community Press release 30th August 2017 Summary The Congregation for the Clergy erected on 15 August 2017 the Clerical Association of the Emmanuel Community, gathering together the priests and deacons of the Community. This decision of the Holy See thus defnes the canonical identity of the clergy who are members of the Emmanuel Community. It encourages their call to serve the local Churches while also favouring their mobility for the universal mission of the Church. It reinforces the communion of the priests and deacons with their lay brothers and sisters, for the New Evangelisation, according to the Emmanuel Community’s own charism. This new stage is situated in the continuity of the community. Thus, the way of ordinary incardination of the Emmanuel clergy remains in the dioceses, although these new statutes make it possible for their incardination in the new Clerical Association, but the Community will choose this new mode only in exceptional circumstances. The Emmanuel Community welcomes with joy and thanksgiving today the solicitude of the Church in this regard. 1. Further details on this Clerical Association The statutes of the Emmanuel Community situate it as an “International Public Association of the Faithful (composed of lay people and priests)”, overseen by the “Dicastery for the Laity, the Family, and Life”.     The Catholic Church in the Czech Republic Dear Readers, For many people, the Catholic Church is an overly complex organ- ism. We hope that this slim publication will help readers to form an image of the Church’s organizational structure and the diversi- ty of the community which in two thousand years has grown out of the cluster of Jesus’s disciples. For more than eleven centuries, the Church has been a part of our society. Today, it is a great tree with deep roots, bearing highly diverse fruits in many areas. Pictures, numbers and names, however, fail to capture its life or in- ner mystery. The Church calls itself the mysterious body of Christ, whose soul is the Holy Spirit. It believes that Jesus himself is mys- teriously present amongst those who have an attitude of love, that he himself shapes the lives of people who, in their attitudes and deeds, accept his word and that the Kingdom of God itself grows in the world through people who put Christ in the primary position in their lives. At the same time, all its members are aware of their weakness, wretchedness and sinfulness, but their hope is in the mercy of God. Joy from God is then the main source of testi- mony and service to society and to individuals. My wish for all readers is that in this publication they find the infor- mation they are looking for, and that they themselves experience something of the mystery of the Divine presence in living contact with people of faith or with entire communities in families, par- ishes, religious orders and movements, church schools or chari- ties.

N. 2017/953 —11/20 Decree Given the request for approval of modifications to the statutes of the Emmanuel Community, presented on July 5th 2017 by Mr. Laurent LANDETE, Moderator General of the above-mentioned association; Given the decree of June 20th 2009 (Prot. N. 616/09/S-61/B- 45) by which the then Pontifical Council for the Laity decreed the erection of the Emmanuel Community as an international public association of the faithful; Considering opportune the modifications that have been submitted, following the erection of the Clerical Association of the Emmanuel Community by the Congregation for the Clergy with its decree of August 15th 2017, for a better articulation and organisation of the Community’s government; After an attentive study of the modifications to the current statutes; In conformity with article 7 § 1 of the statutes of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life, and of canons 312 § 1, 1° and 314 of the Code of Canon Law; The Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life hereby decrees: Approval of the modifications included in the new version of the statutes, authenticated by this Dicastery and deposited in its archives.
