Ream, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, after being elected president of the Ream Family Association of America annually for many years, was in 1930 chosen president of this association for life. He is a descendant of Johann Eberhard Riehm, of Leimen, Germany, who emigrated to Pennsylvania about 1717, and for the past thirty-five years he has been spending much time, effort and money in collecting information about the descendants and ancestors of this emigrant. Besides finding many records of American descendants, he succeeded in locating and communicating with descendants of the Riehm family living in Leimen, Darmstadt, and Berlin, Germany and secured from them valuable information and data of the Riehm (Ream) families in Germany and especially of the Riehm family of Leimen of which Johann Eberhard Riehm was a member. Mr. Norman Ream has very generously furnished most of the history and records of the Ream families given in the following genealogy. The Ream family is related to the Stukey Family through the marriages of two children of John Stukey 2); Anna Stukey who married Sampson Ream, and Joseph Stukey who married Mary (Molly) Ream. However, if this is the case, how do we approach costume in a television show like Sex and the City (1998-2004), which we know (via press articles and various other extra-textual materials) to be comprised of designer clothes? Once onscreen, are the clothes in Sex and the City to be interpreted as „costume‟, rather than „fashion‟? To be sure, it is important to tease out precise definitions of key terms, but to position fashion as the antithesis of costume is reductive. Landis‟ claim is based on the assumption that the purpose of costume is to tell a story. She thereby neglects to acknowledge that the audience may read certain costumes as fashion - which exists in a framework of discourses that can be located beyond the text. This is particularly relevant with regard to contemporary US television which, according to press reports, has witnessed an emergence of „fashion programming‟ - fictional programming with a narrative focus on fashion.

EDWARD ASNER – Versatile, committed, eloquent and talented are all adjectives that describe Edward Asner. Best known for his comedic and dramatic crossover as the gruff but soft-hearted journalist Lou Grant, a role he originated on the landmark TV comedy The Mary Tyler Moore Show and continued in the drama Lou Grant, for which he won 5 Emmys and three Golden Globes, he received 2 more Emmy and Golden Globes for Rich Man, Poor Man and Roots. His career demonstrates a consummate ability to transcend the line between comedy and drama. One of the most honored actors in the history of television, Mr. Asner has 7 Emmy Awards and 16 nominations, as well as 5 Golden Globes. He served as National President of SAG and received the Guild’s Life Achievement Award for career achievement and humanitarian accomplishment and was inducted into the TV Academy Hall of Fame.
