This auction is for a FANTASTIC recording (cassette recording) of Allen Ginsberg.

This was recorded by my stepfather, Allen De Loach in the month of March, 1966.

~~~~THIS IS NOT A COPY -- THIS IS THE ACTUAL TAPE RECORDED FROM 40 YEARS AGO. I have only listened to the tape. NOT ONE copy has been made!~~~~

This truly is an awesome recording - I know the winning bidder will enjoy listening tremendously.

The tape is labeled. There are parts of the recording that are not labeled -- music that Allen Ginsberg performed (instruments/lyrics) regarding zen-buddhist (a very small portion of this [the lyrics] he sang in different languages). The remaining contents are as follows:

There are more poems but they are not labeled. I believe this tape is around 60 to 90 minutes. After listening to this, there is about 1/4 of the second side that was not used.

Allen Ginsberg was born June 3, 1926 - Paterson, New Jersey. Attended Columbia College in 1948. Worked many jobs, including, dishwasher, Merchant Marine, welder, night-porter, copyboy, book reviewer, etc. Has traveled all over the world giving readings of his work. Headed the Committee On Poetry at his farm located in up-state New York (Cherry Valley). This committee was to prevent the suppression of the avant-garde arts by state and municipal authorities. Has written many books - Howl and other poems, Kaddish and other poems, Empty Mirrors (early poems), Reality Sandwiches, Yage Letters (with William Burroughs), T.V. Baby Poems, Airplane Dreams, and Planet News...... just to name a few.

Allen De Loach - Editor, Publisher, Artist, Writer, Poet, Educator, Filmmaker, Critic, Beatnik, and a Bohemian in the truest sense of the word. Editor of the INTREPID Press, has published some 40 books, poetry, prose, journals, anthologies, photographs, video tapes, and multi-media presentations. Allen was the organizer of the open reading program at St. Marks Church where it all began. Names like Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, William Burroughs, Ed Sanders, Robert Duncan, Robert Creeley, Ted Berrigan, Paul Blackburn, Fielding Dawson, and Joel Oppenheimer became a large part of the whole that helped change American literature forever.
