OECD-CPI Dialogue: Improving transparency and accountability through enhanced tracking of climate finance flows

Monday 22nd September, 17:00 – 19:00 Registration from 16:30 & the dialogue will conclude with a cocktail reception

Marriott East Side, 525 Lexington Avenue at 49th Street, New York Taking place ahead of the UN Climate Summit and during the Climate Week NYC

Co-organised by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and Climate Policy Initiative (CPI), this event aims to boost transparency and accountability in the tracking of climate-related finance from public and private sources.

Robust frameworks to support the measurement and monitoring of climate finance commitments will deliver greater transparency, accountability and trust – all essential ingredients to secure the expected global climate deal in 2015, and the UN post-2015 development framework.

The OECD and Climate Policy Initiative are working with the international community - including multilateral development banks and other international and national financial institutions - to advance an integrated system for tracking climate finance flows. A key aim is to monitor the progress made to scale up financial resources to support developing countries’ actions on climate change. Improved information on climate finance will require consistent definitions, clear methodologies, robust and integrated data management systems and engagement of a full range of relevant partners.

This side event will feature a panel discussion reflecting on the current state of play of climate finance flows and recent initiatives contributing to the robust tracking of these. An interactive roundtable discussion will consider progress to date and progress still to be made on improving the coverage, transparency and quality of information and data on climate finance.
