Campus Life 31 When we first arrived

we saw such simple things, we thought then of what we left behind;

but we thought more about where we were going. It was a different kind of place;

there was time for caring. We began to feel at home on the hill

Something in the earth, in the green, in the air. It made us want to live.

Mrs. Inez O. Parker is a legend in her own time. The fantastic combination of knowledge and "with-it" teaching has made Mrs. Par ker one of our most famous teachers. She has been known at Louisiana College for her class trips to the Armstrong Browning library in Waco, Texas, folklore expeditions to many interesting parts of the South, and even a European study tour. 166 To part with great pillars and stately pines

may not seem hard.

167 But they waited

168 Each time we saw them, they were different

because we were different,

169 Our minds were stronger, richer, more open:

yet they were still just pillars and pines.

170 They waited for us.

171 They will wait for others in the years to come.

A walk In the rain, the rising sun, the rainbow in all of its glorious colors, Touch each of us in a unique way. Each season ends and begins in a new way, bringing an end to a part of our lives but also a beginning. Each of us is different, as the seasons are different — yet each of us are the same. Listen to the wind, smell the new mown grass, look at the flowers. Feel a part of everything you see and love the Life around you. It is a part of you.
