Tags:anchorman sequel, will ferrell, ron burgundy, christina applegate, anchorman jordan all shoes ,Ryan Rigley: “My pitch: after being fired from CNN World News, Ron and Veronica are reunited with the old Channel 4 news team just in time to cover the launching of the Challenger space shuttle. But this proves to be a task easier said than done as Wes Mantooth and the evening news team are also assigned the story, along with a handful of other rival news teams. With the hopes of getting some exclusive coverage, the Channel 4 news team breaks into mission control and inadvertently causes the Challenger to explode moments after liftoff.” jordan shoes all, Brian Phares: “Another spacebound idea: now that Ron Burgundy and Veronica Corningstone have reached the pinnacle of their success as network anchors, there’s only one branch of news left to cover: the world. They team up with media mogul Ted Turner who has built a space station as his headquarters for his new world news network. Ron and friends high tail it up to space and uncover an evil alien plot to destroy the world through subliminal messages planted in vagisil commercials. Expect moonwalking, trips to Pleasure Town and male chauvinism galore.” » Kate Callahan: “For me, one of the funniest scenes in ‘Anchorman’ is the alley fight between the guys at Channel 4 and their competitors around San Diego. Wielding a wooden chair leg, Ron Burgundy faces off against other anchors played by Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, Luke Wilson and Tim Robbins. A rematch in the sequel can make for some fun cameos and a chance for Ron to find a stranger household item to use as a weapon.” jordan s shoes “Completely agreed. The only thing I really want to see in the sequel is another amazing network-on-network street brawl, complete with the ‘Como estan, bitches?!?’ intro from hilarious, mustacheod cameo man Ben Stiller. Maybe they can get another Spanish-speaking network in there for fun and have Ferrell’s buddy Danny McBride along for the ride, too?” » Joel Hanek: “As someone who has dressed up as Brian Fantana for two Halloweens I can earnestly say that I don?t even care what they do ? the fact that an ‘Anchorman’ sequel is actually happening at all is amazing and I?ve already tried to pre-order tickets for the midnight screening. The only thing I ask is that the original cast comes back and we finally see the News Team assembled once again. I hope they don?t cast another female lead because Christina Applegate?s Veronica Corningstone is the perfect balance to Ron. One thing I do hope they do is expand the outrageous cameos ? I would love to see what Will Arnett, Danny McBride, Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig, or Jonah Hill could do in the Burgandy-verse.” jordan s shoes: http://www.outletonline-stores.com 2. Carson Daly Apologizes Following Gay Joke About JetBlue Flight Tags:washington post, dave chappelle, in touch magazine, haven, dukan diet mens jordan shoes,The Voice host Carson Daly put his foot in his mouth when voicing up with his thoughts on the incident surrounding JetBlue pilot Clayton Osbon, who had a midair meltdown recently. “On this particular flight, most of the people were on their way to some sort of security conference in Las Vegas,” Daly said during his radio show on Wednesday. “So it was a bunch of dudes, and well-trained dudes. If that were me, my luck, it would be like, this is the flight going to the Pride in San Francisco.” Bravo, Carson. Way to scrape for a joke. The show host has now issued an apology for his remarks. jordan shoes mens,Unintentional? Is that why you carried the on-air joke even further, Carson, by imitating someone on the imagined “gay” flight: “‘We’re headed down to Vegas for the floral convention. Can we get a little help up here with the pilot? Oh, no!’”Okay, okay. Perhaps we, and the rest of those up in arms, should take a cue from Alice Hoagland, mother of 9/11 hero Mark Bingham. Her son was just one of the passengers who charged the cockpit of hijacked Flight 93 on the morning of September 11, 2011. Hoagland responded to Daly’s on-air insult and subsequent apology with the following, as published by Entertainment Weekly: jordan mens shoes,Daly isn’t the first cast member of The Voice to come under fire by GLAAD. But, jordan shoes authentic ,he continued as he sat in the Superdome the day before his Louisville team faced Kentucky in the national semifinals, “That’s the only way I’ve changed. I haven’t changed coaching too much. We’re still doing the things we’ve always done." Louisville does have upperclassmen who have been through this grind plenty of times, in regular season, in conference tournament and in NCAA Tournament play. They had to live through two consecutive first-round losses (including Morehead State last year), they lived through a late fade that wrecked their Big East Tournament seeding, they’ve dealt with injuries and defections and changes on the fly. Pitino has coached them up each time. authentic jordan shoes ,Such experience will make a difference.

  • Representations and Discourse of Torture in Post 9/11 Television: an Ideological Critique of 24 and Battlestar Galactica
REPRESENTATIONS AND DISCOURSE OF TORTURE IN POST 9/11 TELEVISION: AN IDEOLOGICAL CRITIQUE OF 24 AND BATTLSTAR GALACTICA Michael J. Lewis A Thesis Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF ARTS May 2008 Committee: Jeffrey Brown, Advisor Becca Cragin ii ABSTRACT Jeffrey Brown Advisor Through their representations of torture, 24 and Battlestar Galactica build on a wider political discourse. Although 24 began production on its first season several months before the terrorist attacks, the show has become a contested space where opinions about the war on terror and related political and military adventures are played out. The producers of Battlestar Galactica similarly use the space of television to raise questions and problematize issues of war. Together, these two television shows reference a long history of discussion of what role torture should play not just in times of war but also in a liberal democracy. This project seeks to understand the multiple ways that ideological discourses have played themselves out through representations of torture in these television programs. This project begins with a critique of the popular discourse of torture as it portrayed in the popular news media. Using an ideological critique and theories of televisual realism, I argue that complex representations of torture work to both challenge and reify dominant and hegemonic ideas about what torture is and what it does. This project also leverages post-structural analysis and critical gender theory as a way of understanding exactly what ideological messages the programs’ producers are trying to articulate.

THE EFFECTS OF EXTREME MEDIA ON POLITICAL BEHAVIOR, ATTITUDES, AND MEDIA SELECTION by JAMES BENJAMIN TAYLOR Under the Direction of Sean Richey ABSTRACT This dissertation examines the role of extreme media (i.e. political talk radio and cable news opinion shows) on the political attitudes of viewers and listeners. I investigate whether extreme media has both positive and negative externalities for democratic citizenship. Specif- ically, I use laboratory experiments, national survey data, and qualitative interviews to test the impact of extreme media on viewers' political knowledge, trust in government, efficacy, and political tolerance. I use laboratory experiments in controlled settings to uncover the impact of viewership on political knowledge, trust in government, and efficacy. I confirm these lab findings with the national survey data, by using propensity score matching and ordered probit models to demonstrate that exposure to extreme media produces political knowledge and efficacy, but decreases trust in government.

  • Mariners 12Th Annual Deca Day Goes Virtual
For Immediate Release Contact: Rebecca Hale Tuesday, May 26, 2020 206-346-4324 [email protected] @RebeccaMariners MARINERS 12TH ANNUAL DECA DAY GOES VIRTUAL In-person event replaced by online panel with Mariners Front Office staff to give students a look at the business of baseball With Major League Baseball on hold for now, the Seattle Mariners 12th Annual DECA Day has gone online. DECA is an organization for high school and college students that helps prepare them for future careers in the world of business, everything from entrepreneurship to marketing, management finance and hospitality. Under normal circumstances, some 1,500 students from high schools around western Washington would gather at T-Mobile Park before a day game and hear from a panel of Mariners front office employees about the business of baseball. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown, the in-person event was swapped for a virtual experience that will premiere on the Mariners YouTube channel on Wednesday, May 27, at 10:00am. A panel of Mariners employees who represent a variety of different jobs (everything from accounting to social media, media relations and Corporate Partnerships) joined a roundtable on Zoom moderated by Mariners broadcaster Aaron Goldsmith. Questions were submitted in advance by students from participating schools. Students were interested in topics such as how the team is connecting with fans during the shutdown, the challenges of introducing a young team to the fanbase and creating engaging social media content without baseball. The program closed with each panelist offering students one piece of career advice. The Mariners plan to host the 13th Annual DECA Day at T-Mobile Park in 2021.

At our annual meeting, Don Coffin proposed that the Committee establish an annual award for excellence in research into the business of baseball. The award -- a cash prize of approximately $200, raised through sponsorship or donations -- would be given annually at the SABR convention. Don and I believe that such an award could raise the Committee’s visibility among academics and other non-SABRites researching in our field, attracting new members and encouraging non- members to send copies of their work to the Committee. Some details of Don’s proposal: • All research published or completed during the previous calendar year would be eligible. • Candidates need not be SABR members, and may be nominated by others or nominate themselves.
