Penwern Fach, is Welsh for ‘Head of the Elder Grove’, but it has been suggested to us that it could translate as ‘the place for a perfect holiday’...

Once a working farm, Penwern Fach has now ‘retired’ to a more peaceful life of welcoming holiday guests. The original stone stables have been sympathetically converted into five award winning self-catering cottages, and set in the heart of beautiful countryside, it is easy to feel you’ve completely escaped to another world. The cottages are just over a mile away from the picturesque village of – home to the famous waterfalls and salmon fishing on the and an idyllic spot to just wander and enjoy the scenery. We have placed a special emphasis on providing a good value holiday, which keeps many guests coming back year after year, but if this is to be your first visit to Penwern Fach, we look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to this very special corner of . The 5 holiday cottages at Penwern Fach, all named after local rivers, retain their traditional Welsh country charm with genuine beamed ceilings and original stone walls, but today are complemented by quality decor, fitted carpets and modern standards of comfort and convenience. Kitchens are equipped with everything you need to make your holiday catering as easy as possible with a cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and toaster. Lounges are comfortably furnished and include a colour TV, video and DVD player. For cosy and warm winter breaks, there is a wood-burning stove in each cottage and all rooms, including bathrooms and shower rooms are heated. We supply all bedding, and so you don’t have a chore the minute you get here, you’ll find the beds all ready made up for you. Cots and high chairs are available, but please bring your own cot bedding. In addition the cottages share a laundry room with an automatic washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board. A washing line and pegs are also provided. Of course, being in the heart of unspoilt Welsh countryside, you will want to enjoy outdoor living to the full, so we’ve included an outdoor barbeque and The Mill picnic table in front of (but away from) the cottages – there’s a set of barbeque at Cenarth tools in each kitchen. The grounds and gardens provide a large area for children to play in safety. There’s additional fun with a small play area for our smallest guests, whilst a games room with pool and soccer tables means older children won’t get bored. The whole family can enjoy our 200 yard golf practice area (clubs and balls not supplied). And the icing on the cake of this glorious outdoor living is an individual patio area for each cottage complete with table, chairs and outside lighting – sit back with a glass of fine wine to sip as you watch the sun go down on the rolling views of the Teifi Valley and Preseli Mountains – perfect.

Things to do and places to go

As we’ve already said, visiting Penwern Fach, feels like you’ve escaped to another world, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be cut off from things to do and places to go – our location means we’re well placed for getting out and about and exploring one of the most beautiful areas of the UK... 3 miles away is the charming town of Newcastle , which still retains the atmosphere of a traditional Welsh market . There’s a chance to enjoy a style of shopping that makes a welcome contrast to city centre visits, with a selection of very “browsable” shops selling crafts, antiques and books as well as all you need for day to day requirements. 7 miles in the other direction is the well known county town of Cardigan – a settlement that has played an important role in Welsh history. Today the town still thrives and has good shopping amenities, a leisure centre and a state of the art theatre. The area is spoilt for choice when it comes to finding good places to eat – both towns offer an excellent range of pubs and restaurants, and there are many more to be discovered in the surrounding villages. No visit to this area would be complete without enjoying the beautiful beaches of the Coast – Poppit, ,Tresaith, and Llangrannog are all well worth a visit as is the seaside village of Newquay or the charming harbour at Aberaeron. Of course Penwern Fach is the ideal spot to sit back and recharge your batteries by doing nothing more than soaking up the idyllic country views, but if you want to include some active days out, this is a holiday that has your name on it. The area can offer everything from golf, to walking, riding, cycling, some superb bird-watching, fishing in river or sea, or boat trips to see the famous dolphins of . Family days out can include visits to farm parks, a butterfly farm, a honey farm, dry ski slope, miniature railway and much more that you’ll enjoy discovering for yourselves. And if that still hasn’t tired everyone out, a white knuckle day out at Wales’ top theme park, Oakwood, is within easy driving distance. DISCOUNTED RATES FOR PENWERN FACH GUESTS
