EXHIBIT A

ORIGIN & BREEDING HISTORY

Monsanto Company has developed 450001 G, an insect-protected and -tolerant cotton. 450001 G was derived from an original cross between SG 125BGII (source: DPL containing the transformation event MON15985) and Coker 312RF (homozygous R3 generation-developed from selected ROAgrobacterium transformation event MON88913, by three cycles of selfing - source: Monsanto) in 2001.

MON15985 produces the CrylAc (by inclusion ofMON531) and Cry2Ab2 proteins and is protected from feeding damage caused by lepidopteron insect pests. Cry 1Ac and Cry2Ab2 are Bacillus thuringiensis (subsp. kurstaki) proteins. MON88913 produces a 5-enolpyruvylshikimate-3-phosphate synthase protein from sp. strain CP4 (CP4 EPSPS), which confers season long tolerance to glyphosate, the active ingredient in the Roundup@ family of agricultural .

After the initial cross, two cycles of backcrossing followed using SG 125BGII as the recurrent parent. The resulting BC2F 1 population was then selfed to advance the generation to a BC2F2 population. In 2002, the BC2F2 population was screened for homozygosity of both the MON15985 and the MON88913 events and 91 individual plants were selected and advanced. The 91 BC2F3 individuals were then sent to Leland, MS and planted as progeny rows during the 2003 US growing season. Selections were made for boll size, plant type, and maturity. After harvest, selections were further made on lint percent, fiber length, fiber strength and fiber micronaire. From this selection process, 21 BC2F 4 progeny rows were sent to winter nursery for advancement in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico. These 21 lines were planted in 1.5 - 2.5 acre blocks where they were tested again for homozygosity of the MON15985 and the MON88913 events and again screened on visual performance and fiber quality. Eight lines were selected to advance to the BC2F5 generation from the Juana Diaz nursery and undergo extensive Beltwide testing in 2004 for lint yield and fiber quality. Following the 2004 US growing season, five lines were selected for variety certification. 450001 G was one of these selected lines.

ST ATEMENT ON UNIFORMITY AND STABILITY

450001 G has been observed for 3 generations of reproduction and during the seed increase period and is stable and uniform. Less than 2% of the plants do not contain the gene insertions MON531, MON15985 and MON88913, in any combination.

Addendum to Exhibit B

'450001 G' contains the gene insertion from the cotton line MON 88913 (known as Roundup Ready@ Flex) imparting vegetative and reproductive tolerance to the herbicide Roundup@ which contains glyphosate and can be applied for a longer growing period (beyond the fifth true leaf stage vs up to the fifth true leaf stage) than 'DP 424 BGII/RR' which contains the gene insertion from MON 1445 (known as Roundup Ready@) imparting only vegetative tolerance to glyphosate up to the fifth true leaf stage.

'450001G' has more leaf pubescence (medium vs sparse) than 'DP 424 BGII/RR'.
