MUN ’ UNION CLUB & DIRECTORY

MUN Students’ Union (MUNSU) oversees the ratification of groups at Memorial of Newfoundland and Labrador through the Board of Directors’ Student Life Committee, chaired by the Executive Director of Student Life.

Ratified clubs & receive funding from MUNSU in the Fall and Winter semesters, as well as access to the various resources MUNSU offers to ratified groups such as space booking, equipment rentals, bank account assistance, etc. Before a group can be ratified, they must apply for recognition status for two consecutive semesters. Recognized groups can also access many of the resources available to ratified groups.

The list below includes groups that are currently ratified, currently recognized, or were actively ratified or recognized within the last 3 years. During the Spring 2019 semester, MUNSU will be working to remove defunct groups from this list and to update the information for active groups.

If you’re currently involved with one of the groups listed and would like to update, correct, change, or add to your group’s information, please fill out this Update Request form.

MEMORIAL DEBATE SOCIETY (MUN DEBATE) So many of students' curricular and extracurricular activities depend on their ability to persuasively argue for some position, to articulate their thoughts on some matter, private or public. Whether a student is writing a paper for a mandatory English course, wishing to polish their delivery for an important Business presentation, convincing a potential employer that they are the best person for the job, or simply wanting to become more comfortable speaking to people, individually or in a group, about ideas and issues that matter to them, MUN Debate offers a platform for students to speak, training for them to improve, and a welcoming social atmosphere for them to unwind after a long day of classes.

MEMORIAL ENGLISH STUDENT SOCIETY (MESS) MESS is a source of courage, strength, friendship, encouragement and more for countless undergraduate students studying at Memorial. As a society it fosters better writers and stronger students and as a social base it creates long lasting friendships. Being a member of the Memorial English Students' Society can offer many opportunities to students who are looking for a way to become involved in student life. Our society room can be found in Arts3027A. There is almost always someone there that you can talk to about school, books of all kinds, or any other interests not related to English. We are a very friendly group and will answer any questions you may have as well as just hang out and chat. We can also offer help with English courses (someone has likely taken the course before!), or even some editing for other courses.
