MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Illinois State baseball team won 10-2 at Milwaukee to snap a four-game skid and close the series on Sunday at Franklin Field.

Fourth-year junior Tyson Hays was 3-for-4 with a double, RBI, and walk to lead Illinois State (13-21 overall, 4-4 MVC).

Second-year freshman Ryan Cermak recorded a triple, two RBIs, and two runs scored and third-year sopho- more Hayden Jones had two hits and three runs scored. Fourth-year junior Jack Butler added a hit and three RBIs.

Third-year freshman Sean Sinisko threw five innings with one earned run and six strikeouts to record his third win of the season. Second-year freshman Erik Kubiatowicz recorded two scoreless innings out of the Redbird pen.

Milwaukee (15-16 overall, 12-8 Horizon) was out-hit by Illinois State in all four games of the series.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Huggins scored on a bases-loaded double play to put ISU up, 1-0, but the Panthers scored an unearned run to tie the game at 1-1 after one inning.

Sacrifice flies by Cheng and Cermak gave the Redbirds a 3-1 before a Jack Butler single pushed the lead to 4-1.

MKE scored on a double to cut the lead to 4-2 after four innings.

Jack Butler recorded a sacrifice fly before Hays singled up the middle in the 6th, putting ISU up, 6-2.

Cermak recorded an RBI triple and was plated on a passed ball in the 7th inning prior to the Redbirds adding a pair of insurance runs in the 9th inning to lead 10-2.

Jack Butler extended his hitting streak to 12 games.

The Redbirds’ 6-9 batters in the order scored nine of the 10 runs.

In addition to Kubiatowicz’s two scoreless innings, first-year freshman Mason Burns and third-year sophomore Derek Salata each threw a scoreless frame with two strikeouts.
