Both, Internal and External finishes are produced. Plasterers work on a number of different buildings, including new housing developments, offices and houses (redecorations or extensions). They repair or restore existing plasterwork and plaster newly erected walls. The Historic and Fibrous side of plastering involve, plastering using lime and making decorative mouldings for ceilings or walls. The process of creating plasterwork, called plastering, has been used in building construction for centuries. Plasterers have an advantage over some trades during bad weather in that they can work inside. Most plastering tasks are completed before a decorator paints the walls or ceilings. LENEXA – BEST PRACTICES for STUCCO APPLICATIONS GUIDE Revised April 1, 2019 This document is provided through endorsement by the Johnson County Building Officials. General Exterior wall coverings, along with the roofing, flashings, windows and doors, are designed to provide a weather-resistive barrier that separates the interior of the structure from the elements. Low maintenance and attractive appearance are just two reasons why hard coat stucco has become so popular over the years. At the same time, the building industry has become aware of the need to protect the exterior wall sheathing from moisture damage. The walls shall be constructed so that water does not accumulate within the assembly. This means creating a water-resistive plane behind the exterior veneer that allows moisture that does get into the wall to drain down and out without coming in contact with the wood framing. Detailing around windows, doors and other penetrations in the envelope is equally important in protecting the wood frame structure behind the stucco from being damaged by water infiltration. Since the wall sheathing behind the stucco is the lateral load resisting system of the structure, in addition to the supporting surface for the exterior siding, it is important to see that continuous undetected penetrations of the siding by moisture do not create structural damage such as decay and corrosion or environmental damage which may cause health related problems such as the growth of mold and mildew. To this end, the removal of moisture that gets past the exterior envelope before it contacts the wood framing is the primary goal of the weather-resistive barrier and why it is critical that it be installed properly. -

THE AMES FORESTER 17 Wood Waste as a Raw Material Lionel K. Arnold, Engineering Experiment Station It is estimated that the annual sawdust pile of the world would be several times as large as the largest skyscraper of New 'York. The sawclust is only about one-fifth of the total waste from the lumber industry. It is estimated that 62 per cent of each tree cut for lumber is wasted. This includes the limbs, top, and stump as well as the waste at the mill. From the sawlogs alone the waste is approximately 49 per cent. Unbreakable dolls and dynamite are only two of the many products made fl-om wood flour which is made from sawdust and other wood wastes. In spite of the immense quantities of sawdust and other wood wastes produced in the United States, we are importing in the neighborhood of 12 million pounds of wood flour every year at a cost of about 90 thousand dollars. -

PURPOSE OF REPORT This report describes the work of Glamorgan Archives for the period 1 March to 31 May 2014. 2. BACKGROUND As part of the agreed reporting process the Glamorgan Archivist updates the Joint Committee quarterly on the work and achievements of the service. 3. Members are asked to note the content of this report. 4. ISSUES A. MANAGEMENT OF RESOURCES 1. Staff: establishment Maintain appropriate levels of staff There has been no staff movement during the quarter. From April the Deputy Glamorgan Archivist reduced her hours to 30 a week. Review establishment The manager-led regrading process has been followed for four staff positions in which responsibilities have increased since the original evaluation was completed. The posts are Administrative Officer, Senior Records Officer, Records Assistant and Preservation Assistant. All were in detriment following the single status assessment and comprise 7 members of staff. Applications have been submitted and results are awaited. 1 Develop skill sharing programme During the quarter 44 volunteers and work experience placements have contributed 1917 hours to the work of the Office. Of these 19 came from Cardiff, nine each from the Vale of Glamorgan and Bridgend, four from Rhondda Cynon Taf and three from outside our area: from Newport, Haverfordwest and Catalonia. In addition nine tours have been provided to prospective volunteers and two references were supplied to former volunteers. -

Where construction alterations are to existing facilities, the following shall apply: 1. Patched openings in plaster construction shall be reframed and lathed in as required to maintain original plaster thickness. Areas or openings to be patched shall have the existing finish coat chipped back one inch on base plaster, and base plaster two inches on lath or as required to overlap and bond the new plaster patch to the existing plaster. Areas to be patched or tied into shall be primed with an approved latex bonding-agent in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendation. 1.2 SUMMARY A. This Section includes the following: 1. Nonstructural steel framing and furring. 2. Interior portland cement plasterwork on metal lath plaster bases. 1.3 SUBMITTALS A. Product Data: For each type of product indicated. 1.4 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Store materials inside under cover and keep them dry and protected against damage from weather, direct sunlight, surface contamination, corrosion, construction traffic, and other causes. 1.5 PROJECT CONDITIONS A. Comply with ASTM C 926 requirements. B. Interior Plasterwork: Maintain room temperatures at greater than 40 deg F for at least 48 hours before plaster application, and continuously during and after application. 1. Avoid conditions that result in plaster drying out during curing period. Distribute heat evenly; prevent concentrated or uneven heat on plaster. 2. Ventilate building spaces as required to remove water in excess of that required for hydrating plaster in a manner that prevents drafts of air from contacting surfaces during plaster application and until plaster is dry. -
