System 2 The immobiliser is integrated within the vehicle dashboard. The Immobiliser ECU enables up to 8 keys to be programmed and are recognised via the transponder aerial mounted around the Ignition lock. If the keys are lost or a replacement Engine Management ECU is fitted then the transponder keys will need programming so that the ECU memory recognises the codes. PIN CODE Due to the difficulty in obtaining the pin codes from VW and AUDI dealers, software has been developed to assist extracting the pin code from the vehicle. If you have purchased this software for your tester, then you have several methods of trying to extract the pin code. Pin code reading is a complex area and constantly being developed. SYSTEM IDENTIFICATION To identify the correct system, check to see whether the Dashboard has the following symbol when the ignition is on : SYSTEM 1 : DOES NOT HAVE THE SYMBOL SYSTEM 2 : IN MOST CASES DOES HAVE THIS SYMBOL 1. When reading Pin codes from vehicle memory, if loss of communications is experienced, try reading fault codes, then clearing fault codes then read the pin code. 2. If when programming keys, the tester displays the following KEYS PROGRAMMED : 136 This means the incorrect PIN CODE has been entered. KEYS PROGRAMMED : 0 This means that the PIN CODE has been entered incorrectly more than three times, and the system will need resetting By leaving the ignition ON for 35 minutes. 3. You cannot program a key immediately after reading a PIN, you must disconnect the tester and cycle the ignition. 4. Immobiliser warning light on all the time after key programming (engine starts and runs) - the number of keys se- lected to be programmed was not the number of keys that were ACTUALLY programmed. 5. Lost Keys - On certain models from the Golf Mk5 onwards, there is a 5 minute wait time before new keys can be coded. This was introduced by VW to combat the ‘Gone in 60 seconds’ scenario of stealing vehicles. EMERGENCY START a. Switch IGNITION ON and turn the clock set button to the right and at the same time press and hold the trip reset button for 1 second. b. “0000” appears on the display, press the trip button to input the first digit of the pin code. Turn the clock set button to the right to move to the next digit. Repeat for all 4 digits. c. Then with the correct pin code entered turn the clock set button to the right and press the trip reset button for 1 second. d. The Immobiliser light will stay on, and the car can run for 45 minutes. 11 Version 8.0 FEB 2014 Copyright 2014 COPYRIGHT 2013 GENERAL OPERATION ENGINE CODE IDENTIFICATION (ENGINE) (SERVICE BOOK) (WHEEL WELL/BOOT) 12 Version 8.0 FEB 2014 Copyright 2014 COPYRIGHT 2013 SPECIAL FUNCTIONS VW/SEAT/SKODA/AUDI—SYSTEM 1 PROGRAM KEYS PROGRAM KEYS PROGRAM KEYS VEHICLE SELECTION DIAGNOSTIC MENU PROGRAMMING KEYS + SSANGYONG ECU IDENTIFICATION KEYS PROGRAMMED : 2 TOTAL KEYS REQD : 1 + SAAB FAULT CODES + SUZUKI SPECIAL FUNCTIONS + SUBARU + TOYOTA + VOLKSWAGEN VEHICLE SELECTION DIAGNOSTIC MENU + BEETLE PROGRAM KEYS + CADDY KEY COUNT PLEASE PROGRAM + EOS ADDITIONAL KEYS + FOX IF NECESSARY + GOL + GOLF/BORA/JETTA PRESS ENTER KEY PRESS ENTER KEY VEHICLE SELECTION SECURITY CODE NOTE : ALL KEYS THAT + 6N REQUIRE PROGRAMMING _ _ _ _ + 9N MUST BE CYCLED IN AT THIS POINT. About 90% of the accidents occur due to human errors [2] [3] such as bad awareness, distraction, drowsiness, low training, fatigue etc. These human errors can be minimized by using advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) which actively monitors the driving environment and alerts a driver to the forthcoming danger, for example adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection, parking assistance, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, driver drowsiness detection, and traffic sign recognition etc. Unfortunately, these systems are provided only with modern luxury cars because they are very expensive due to numerous sensors employed. Therefore, camera-based ADAS are being seen as an alternative because a camera has much lower cost, higher availability, can be used for multiple applications and ability to integrate with other systems.

  • Using Head-Up Display for Vehicle Navigation
DESCOMPOSING THE MAP: USING HEAD-UP DISPLAY FOR VEHICLE NAVIGATION Dane Harkin, William Cartwright, and Michael Black School of Mathematical and Geospatial Science RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia ABSTRACT The mobility of people is ever increasing, with a sense of being able to travel to any destination they wish. Utilising the GPS and computer technology created for the use within vehicles for guidance purposes allows people to do this, without the thought of Where am I? or Where do I go now? These systems warrant the need to look at the display for excessive periods of time, causing drivers to remove their vision from the road. A possible solution could be the introduction of military aviation technology, specifically Head-Up Display (HUD), to compliment the current system, by presenting modified navigational information on the windscreen. This paper looks at background theory associated with the technology being investigated and its proposed implementation. It then provides an overview of the information obtained to date. Problems that may occur with such an implementation are discussed and further research to be undertaken outlined. INTRODUCTION Since the introduction of the first motor vehicle, crafted independently by Germany’s Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz in 1886 (Mercedes-Benz, 2003), there has been a general improvement in personal mobility. The motor vehicle allowed people to travel to destinations of choice, and they usually navigated there with the aid of a map or map book. Over the years, navigation tools improved as new cartographic techniques were developed and employed. During the 1970s, “… efforts to develop in-vehicle route guidance systems were initiated” (Adler and Blue, 1998, p.

Piher designs and develops seat belt buckle sensors that detects when a buckle tongue is latched. This information is received by the vehicle CPU which can determine some conditions such as driving speed limitation when the buckle tongue is unlatched. The technology used for this kind of sensors, Reed Switch or Hall Effect, provides superior performance detection even under extreme and challenging environment conditions such as dust, dirt, high vibration or temperature. • Custom product design packaging can be provided to meet any need including the choice of wire harness and interface connector. For safe operation, seatbelt buckles need to inform the CPU when when a buckle tongue is latched. Thus allowing the car to ignite or the airbag system to be
