Last season Plett coached Honorable Mention All-MIAA selection Jessica Koch. In 2008-2009, Plett produced the MIAA Freshman of the Year as Griffon guard Jessica Koch took home the honor. In 2007-2008, Plett’s first year at MWSU, he had three players named to All-MIAA teams and two All-Region selections in Jill Johnson and Yanique Javois.

Plett came to MWSU from Lewis University in Romeoville, Ill., where he “The Plett File” led the Flyers program for the previous five seasons (2002-2007). Plett became Record at Western: (4th year) the seventh Missouri Western head 2007-08: 12-15, 7-11 MIAA coach on June 20, 2007. During the 2008-09: 6-21, 5-15 MIAA 2006-07 season, Plett led his team to a school best 28-4 record 2009-10: 7-20, 5-15 MIAA and was the host institution and #1 seed of the 2007 Great Lakes 2010-11: 5-3, 3-2 MIAA Regional Tournament. Overall Record: 30-59 Lewis also won both the Great MIAA Total: 20-42 Lakes Valley Eastern Division Conference Championship and Record at Lewis: (5 years) Great Lakes Valley Post-Season 2002-03 - 9-18 Tournament Championship. 2003-04 - 16-12 His team achieved a national 2004-05 - 19-11 ranking as high as #7 in the 2005-06 - 19-11 NCAA Division II Coaches Poll 2006-07 - 28-4 and finished the season ranked Overall Record: 91-56 #12. He was named the Great GLVC Total - 64-34 Lakes Valley Conference Head Coach of the Year and NCAA Saint Joseph’s College: (8 years) Division II Region 4 Coach of Overall Record: 185-178 GLVC Total: 71-87 the Year. Overall record (17th year): 306-293 At Lewis, Plett inherited a GLVC Record (13 years): 135-121 program that finished 7-19 in its previous season. In just three MIAA Record (4th year): 20-43 seasons, he led the Flyers to a 19-11 record and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2004-05. His first team to make the NCAA Tournament also excelled in the classroom as they finished the season ranked #13 on the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll with a team grade point average of 3.434.

In 2005-06, Plett’s squad returned to the NCAA Tournament and moved up to #8 in the WBCA Academic Top 25 poll with a team GPA of 3.515. During his tenure at LU, he has led two NCAA Division II All-Americans, two NCAA Division II First Team All-Region selections, two Conference Players of the Year and one Conference Newcomer of the Year. He was a member of the NCAA Division II National Coaches Poll Committee and was the conference representative on the Advisory Committee to Women’s Basketball Officials Consortium.

Plett earned a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and another in Humanities and Biblical Studies from Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kan. where he competed in basketball and soccer. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Western women fell for the fifth time in a row in MIAA play losing at home to Tasha Cannon scored a career-high 23 points and 17 rebounds in Newman’s 82-65 win over the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks 58-55 in St. Joseph, Mo. Western shot just 31.0-percent (9-29) in the Southwestern second half falling to 7-16 overall and 5-11 in MIAA play. Jessica Koch led the charge with 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting. WICHITA - A hot start and a career night from Tasha Cannon fueled the Newman women’s basketball team to an 82-65 win over Southwestern Friday evening inside Fugate Gymnasium. Jessica Koch Named MIAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week 12-6-10

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Missouri Western redshirt junior Jessica Koch (Kansas City, Mo.) garnered this weeks MIAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors. Koch a 5-10 guard/forward leads the team and is second in the MIAA in scoring at 19.6 points per contest. Western is 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in MIAA play. This marks the first time in her career that she has earned this honor.

Jessica Koch, G/F, Missouri Western Koch shot 68-percent (17-25) on the week. She made 4-of-9 long range shots and connected on 8-of-11 free throws. She dished out nine assists and had five steals. Koch made a career best 1 field goals against Emporia State while tying her career high with 17 field goal attempts. She also scored a career high 27 points against the 10th ranked

Lady Hornets. On the season Koch has scored twenty or more points twice and has scored in double figures in all five games. She leads the squad scoring 19.6 points per game and averages 5.8 rebounds per contest. She has the Griffons off to its best start since 2007 when they started 4-2 which was Plett’s first season at the helm of the Griffons.

GRIFFON WOMEN COME UP SHORT AGAINST 10TH RANKED LADY HORNETS DEEP SOUTHERN SHOOTING DOWNS WESTERN WOMEN 67-59 Despite a career high 27 points from Jessica Koch the Missouri Western women’s basketball team came up short falling 79-69 against the 10th ranked in Emporia, The Missouri Western Women fell into an early hole they couldn’t dig out of. Kan. The Griffons had 21 points off 20 ESU turnovers falling to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in MIAA play. Missouri Southern used early precision three-point shooting to down the Griffons Western played an exceptional first half against Emporia taking a one point lead at 34-33 into 67-59 Wednesday at the Leggett and Platt Center in Joplin, MO. the locker room. The Griffons took its first lead of the game at 13-11 after a layup by Kayla Vice with 12:49 to play in the frame. The Griffons extended its lead to as many as six at The Lady Lions went 8-11 from behind the arc (72.7%) in the first half and took a 21-15 after an Alex Noble layup with 8:24 to play in the first half. 39-22 lead into halftime. ESU responded going on an 18-6 run taking a six point lead at 31-25 after a Kelsey Newman long range shot with 4:23 to play before the half. The Griffons remained calm closing the half Erin Rice scored 15 of her game-high 24 point in the first frame.The Griffons shot on a 9-2 run. just 26.1 percent in that time. The second half belonged to the Lady Hornets as they took the lead for good with 14:16 to play after a Rachel Hanf long range shot. ESU extended the lead to 13 after a Jocelyn Cum- Western fought back in the second half, cutting the lead to 50-42 with a Jessica mings layup with 6:35 to play. Western never got closer than seven the rest of the way as the Koch lay-up, but the Grifons could get no closer. Hornets improve to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in MIAA action. The difference in the ball game was that ESU made 12 more free throws then the Griffons The Griffons were out-rebounded 41-29. and had 10 more rebounds. The Hornets made 21-of-27 free throws in the second half and made five long range shots. Western made 11-of-14 free throws and made just 2-of-8 long range shots. Lauren Nolke led the Griffons with 15 points. Jessica Koch added 13 and Rachel Luteyn chipped in 10. Western had 11 assists in the game and shot 38.7-percent (24-62) from the field and made 5-of-17 long range shots. Brenna Saline was the only other Griffon in double figures scoring The Griffons held the MIAA’s leading scorer, Jasmine Lovejoy to just 10 points. 14 points and led the Griffons with nine rebounds. Koch had five assists and two steals.
