The National Campaign for Agricultural Democracy Collection Papers 1967-1970 14.5 linear feet Accession Number 487 The papers of the National Campaign for Agricultural Democracy were placed in the Archives of Labor History and Urban Affairs in July of 1971 by the National Campaign and were opened for research in July 1973. The National Campaign for Agricultural Democracy, a working coalition of religious, labor and other civic groups, was formed in an effort to extend coverage of the National Labor Relations Act to farm workers. The campaign was incorporated February 2, 1967 and the task was begun. Rev. Eugene Boutilier, the National Director, established an office in the Methodist Buildling on Capital Hill. Rev. Jack Alford served as Field Director from a base in Denver, Colorado. The Campaign was not intended to be a permanent organization; it was established as a temporary, single-purposed coalition. On January 31, 1970 the coalition was dissolved. Although NCAD ceased to exist the struggle for effective national legislation continued. Rev. Boutilier continued his efforts after January 1970 as Boycott representative of the United Farm Workers Organizing Committee, AFL-CIO.
