Bishop Diocesan, The Episcopal Diocese of San Diego, 2005 – Present

• Chief pastor of forty-five congregations and twelve schools, representing 16,000 lay people and 135 clergy • Successfully shepherded diocese through a season of conflict occasioned by the theological debate about human sexuality • Developed greater collaborative relationships within the diocese through the development of mission areas and the working volunteer area missioners • Moved diocese from a place of financial crisis to stability • Led successful capital campaign raising $2.7 million to build the Episcopal Church Center, a dynamic ministry center serving the homeless and poor as well as housing the diocesan staff and school for ministry, plus endowing two funds for new clergy mentoring and congregational loans • Founded diocesan School for Ministry, now in its fourth year

• Wrote successful $1.3 million Lilly Endowment, Inc. grant which created the Making Excellent Disciples project, a mentoring program for the newly ordained • Created supportive community of 10 curates and supervising rectors as a part of the Lilly Endowment funded Making Excellent Disciples project • Supervised senior staff on behalf of bishop • Streamlined operations and staff effectiveness • Staffed strategic planning process • Served as diocesan deployment officer
