Eddie George Lincoln From the football field to the board room, Broadway musicals to graduate business schools, Eddie George personifies what we think of when we hear the termRenaissance Man. His football accomplishments are legendary. A Heisman trophy winner and first round draft choice out of Ohio State, earning Rookie of the Year honors in 1996, it only got better. Starting running back for the Tennessee Titans until 2003, he was selected to four consecutive Pro Bowls, still owns virtually every Titans rushing record, and led his team to Super Bowl XXXIV before retiring after a final campaign in 2004 with the Dallas Cowboys. Business success soon followed. He prepared by first earning an MBA at Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. A series of entrepreneurial triumphs included development of a number of successful businesses that benefit people. Most noteworthy, the Edward George Wealth Management Group where his financial acumen and a people- first approach to clients are redefining investment advisory. A love of acting added still another career dimension. Joel Diggs Booth Joel Diggs was born in Monrovia, Liberia, and grew up in Reston, Va. His theatre career began in 2006, when he moved to Nashville. Joel has since been featured in many plays, and television and film productions. Highlights include playing Hoke in Chaffins Barn production of Driving Miss Daisy, and Jitney with Kennie Playhouse Theatre. Joel is very excited to be a part of the Rep’s season this year!

Suzan-Lori Parks Author A playwright, screenwriter, novelist, and songwriter, Suzan-Lori’s play TOPDOG/UNDERDOG won the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. In 2001 she received a MacArthur Fellows “Genius” Grant, and she holds Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts Degrees from Mount Holyoke College and Spelman College. Her work is the subject of the PBS film “The Topdog/Underdog Diaries,” and her plays are published by Theatre Communications Group and Dramatists Play Service, Inc. Her first feature-length screenplay was “girl 6,” for Spike Lee. She has also written screenplays for Jodie Foster, Danny Glover, and Oprah Winfrey. Other screenplays include adaptations of Toni Morrison’s novel “Paradise,” Zora Neale Hurston’s novel “Their Eyes Were Watching God,” and screenplays for Miramax and Brad Pitt. Her plays include IN THE BLOOD (2000 Pulitzer nominee), VENUS (1996 Obie Award), FUCKING A, THE AMERICA PLAY, IMPERCEPTIBLE MUTABILITIES IN THE THIRD KINGDOM (1990 Obie Award), THE DEATH OF THE LAST BLACK MAN IN THE WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD, and 365 DAYS/365 PLAYS. TOPDOG/ UNDERDOG (2002 Tony nominee) has had successful runs on Broadway, in cities throughout the United States, and in London at the Royal Court Theatre. Additional recognition includes two NEA playwriting fellowships, a W. Alton Jones Grant, a grant from The Kennedy Center Fund For New American Plays, the Whiting Writer’s Award, and grants from the Rockefeller Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the CalArts/Alpert Award, the PEW Charitable Trusts, and The Guggenheim Foundation. Suzan-Lori is a professor at the California Institute for the Arts where she heads the Dramatic Writing Program. Jon Royal Director Jon Royal is thrilled to be directing at Nashville Rep again. He most recently helmed last season’s production of Smart People. He was has also the company’s directing intern for the 2004-05 season, in which he assistant directed the Piano Lesson, under Woodie King Jr. Jon is a Nashville native, graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, and grew up attending Rep performances. Past directing credits include: Ghost (World Premiere), And In This Corner: Cassius Clay, Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott, Othello, Passing Strange, The Colored Museum, , Once on This Island, Twelfth Night, Conference of the Birds, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Spoon River Anthology, As You Like It, The Butterfly, Hanging Mary (World Premiere), , and Jungal Book. Jon is a past winner of the American College Theatre Festival’s Regional Student Directing Award. In 2016, he was a member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation’s National Observership Class, in which he had the privilege of working with Liesl Tommy on the Public Theatre’s production of Party People. Jon has been working with young people locally and abroad, for over twenty-five years, and serves as a teaching artist for NCT, TPAC Education, Shakespeare Center Los Angeles’ Will Power to Youth program, in addition to coaching privately. As part of Metro Nashville Arts Commission’s Restorative Justice through the Arts initiative that works with young people in the Juvenile Corrections system, he cofacilitates two programs: “ Gets R.E.A.L.” and “My Place: Discovering Self Identity in Community.”

Kayla Turner Assistant Director KT Turner is a post-baccalaureate senior originally from Hammond, LA studying theatre at Middle Tennessee State University. With a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Southeastern Louisiana University, her love for theatre propelled her to Middle Tennessee. Her recent directing credits include: The Royale (MTSU), The Promotion (Asst. Director, The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts), Memphis: The Musical (Center for the Arts), Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike (Murfreesboro Little Theatre), Pocatello (Murfreesboro Little Theatre), and Rumors (Asst. Director, Murfreesboro Little Theatre). KT is extremely grateful to have the opportunity to share this incredible story with you.

René D. Copeland Artistic Director of Nashville Repertory Theatre As Nashville Rep’s artistic director, Ms. Copeland’s duties include directing a majority of Rep productions, which recently include Inherit the Wind, Sense and Sensibility, and A Raisin in the Sun. The forty plus productions under her direction since she joined the Rep in 2004 have ranged from Cabaret to Noises Off, from The Importance of Being Earnest to Glengarry Glen Ross. Her time is also dedicated to the Ingram New Works Project, working on REPaloud staged readings and overseeing the professional internship and educational programming. Prior to joining the staff of Nashville Rep, Ms. Copeland served for ten years as co-producing director of Mockingbird Theatre where highlights of her directing included The Glass Menagerie, Hamlet, and Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde. She has also directed for Nashville Children’s Theatre, Nashville Shakespeare Festival and Chaffin’s Barn Dinner Theatre. She was named Nashville Scene’s Best Stage Director of 2007, in 2011 was listed with her late husband, Scot, as one of the “Top 100 Reasons to Love Nashville” by Nashville Lifestyles magazine and was a First Night Award winner for Best Director in 2016. A member of Leadership Nashville BCE 2016, she has served as a member of the Theatre Advisory Board for Lipscomb University’s College of Entertainment and the Arts. She holds an MFA in acting and directing from University of North Carolina-Greensboro and a BFA from the University of Montevallo (Ala.).

Zachariah Heil Assistant Stage Manager (Nashville Repertory Theatre’s Professional Stage Management Intern) Mr. Heil is thrilled to be part of the Rep staff for their 2018-2019 season, and is deeply inspired by the themes of Topdog/Underdog. He considers it a privilege to contribute to a piece that explores such strong thematic elements in the face our our current political and social climate. Zachariah has spent the last year working as both a Stage Manager and Designer for The Theater Bug. These credits include: Still Life with Iris, 2017 Winter Concert, Barefoot Children in the City of Ward, Paper Bag Princess, and You’re Still Here. He also had the pleasure of Stage Managing Street Theatre’s Title of Show and The CoPlayers’ production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown. Zachariah would like to thank his many mentors, and the Rep for the opportunity to learn from such a boundlessly talented staff and crew.

Gary C. Hoff Scenic Design (Nashville Repertory Theatre’s Head of Design) Mr. Hoff is now designing his nineteenth season for Nashville Rep. “This is going to be a very exciting season here at Nashville Rep and thank you for being part of this continuing adventure. We are very excited about all the new possibilities that lie before us.” He says, “Your positive support for the design work and technical work at the Rep over the past 19 years has been overwhelming. I would like to thank all those who made the production designs come to life, not only the talented staff at the Rep, but all of those businesses and individuals that have made it all possible.” In addition to designing for Nashville Rep, he has designed for Nashville Children’s Theatre, Nashville Shakespeare Festival, Tennessee Shakespeare Festival, and Dollywood Theme Park. He was included as one of the six “virtuoso” designers in American Theatre Magazine and was the recipient of the Ingram Individual Artist Fellowship in Theatrical Scene Design from the Tennessee Arts Commission. He holds an MA in scenic design from Purdue University and a BFA in Technical Theater from Central Michigan University. Ned Singh Sound Design Ned is very excited to be working on another show with Nashville Repertory Theatre! He recently moved to Nashville from Boston where he was resident sound designer for the Concord Academy Performing Arts Department. His most recent work includes: Peter Pan and Tinkerbell: A Pirates Christmas, with Lythgoe Family Panto, Avenue Q with Nashville Rep, and audio engineering for the one and only Reba McEntire. He would like to thank his partner Katylyn Adams for continuing to inspire his work, his family for their unyielding support, his colleagues at TPAC, Clarke Schleicher at Warner Bros. Recording Studios, and his mentor Jessica Cloutier-Plasse.

Darren Levin Lighting Design Mr. Levin is excited to be back with the Nashville Rep for the 2018-19 Season! Previous Rep Credits: Avenue Q, Smart People, Posterity, Good Monsters and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. Additional credits: 9to 5, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Peter and the Starcatcher, The Secret Garden, Pageant, West Side Story, La Cage Aux Folles, She Loves Me, The Drowsy Chaperone, Trouble in Tahiti, and Pride and Prejudice. Darren is an Assistant Professor teaching lighting design at Middle Tennessee State University. Prior to joining the faculty at MTSU, he held the position of Assistant Technical Director/Lighting Supervisor of McCain Auditorium at Kansas State University, Technical Forman with Cedar Point Live Entertainment, worked with Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts, and toured as an electrician with Disney on Ice. In addition to design and teaching, he is active in the United States Institute of Theatre Technology. Darren earned his BFA (with honors) in Theatrical Design/Technology from Missouri State University, and MFA in Theatrical Design from The University of Texas at Austin. Lori Gann-Smith Nashville Repertory Theatre’s Costume Shop Manager Lori received a B.S. in Speech & Theatre from Middle Tennessee State University in 1991 and an M.F.A. in Costume Design from the University of Georgia in 1995. She was the Chair of Art & Design at Brenau University from 2014-2018 and the Fashion Design Program Director there from 2007-2018. Lori has worked as a costume designer for many higher education theatre productions as well as Gainesville Theatre Alliance, West Virginia Public Theatre and most recently for the Hippodrome State Theatre in Gainesville, FL. Lori has also served as a costume technician, stylist and costume designer for film and music videos. Evelyn Thornhill Props Master Ms. Thornhill is a Nashville-based Properties Artist. Most recently her credits at Nashville Rep include properties work on Raisin in the Sun, Posterity, Noises Off, The Last Five Years, Chicago, Good Monsters, Rozencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Rapture, Blister, Burn, Vanya & Sonia & Masha & Spike, Death of a Salesman, The Whipping Man, and Sweeney Todd. Tessa Bryant Nashville Repertory Theatre’s Artistic Associate Ms. Bryant holds a BFA in Directing from Lipscomb University and graduated summer of 2018 with an MFA in Creative Writing. This is Tessa’s first season with Nashville Rep and she looks forward to meeting and talking with audience members throughout the year at shows and special events. Enjoy the show!

Tucker Steinlage Nashville Repertory Theatre’s Master Carpenter Originally from Georgia, Mr. Steinlage graduated from the University of Evansville with a BFA in Theatre Design and Technology. He started his college career in sound design, but quickly found his home in the scene shop where he worked as both a designer and technical director. Tucker has worked as a carpenter on both the east coast at Opera Saratoga and the Mountains of Colorado at Aspen Opera Center. He decided to start his professional career in Nashville and back in the south because of all the incredible opportunities found here and the severe lack of Waffle House everywhere else. Tucker is a big supporter of the arts and his art department back at UE where he helped jumpstart the metal working section of the campus sculpture studio. Currently he is working on honing his skills as a blacksmith with the goal of one day open his own shop where he can make weapon-smith for stage and screen. IG: @Tuck_stein

Kelsey Garber Run Crew (Nashville Repertory Theatre’s Professional Technical Theatre Intern) Kelsey Garber is excited to have this opportunity with Nashville Repertory Theatre! She graduated from Missouri Western State University where she worked on shows such as Urinetown, The Pirates of Penzance, Schoolhouse Rock Live!, and Spring Awakening. William Christian Run Crew (Nashville Repertory Theatre’s Professional Technical Theatre Intern) This is William Christian’s first year with Nashville Repertory Theatre as a Technical Production Intern.Topdog/ Underdog marks his fourth production with the Rep, after Avenue Q, A Doll’s House, Part 2, and A Christmas Story. He recently graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a bachelor’s degree in Production Design, concentration in scenic and lighting design.

Emily Peck Stitcher (Nashville Repertory Theatre’s Professional Costume Intern) Ms. Peck is a recent transplant to the Nashville area after graduating with a BA in Theatre: Design and Technology from University of North Iowa where she focused her studies in costume design and technology. She’s honored to be in her first season with the Rep. She has also worked as a design assistant and stitcher at American Shakespeare Center on Macbeth, Taming of the Shrew, and Love’s Labors Lost. Her college career included designing costumes for ’s Doubt, stitching and patterning in her program’s costume shop on numerous productions, and serving as dramaturg and paint charge.

Grace Kreider Wardrobe Supervisor (Nashville Repertory Theatre’s Professional Wardrobe Intern) Grace Kreider enjoys every aspect of theatre, but her ultimate favorite thing to do is wardrobe! Some may think that this just means extensive amounts of show laundry, but wardrobe is so much more than that! It’s also quick changes and the ability to create a bond like no other with the cast and crew of a show. This is Ms. Kreider’s fourth show with Nashville Rep.

Erica Jo Lloyd Nashville Repertory Theatre’s Costume and Props Rentals Manager Erica Jo Lloyd graduated from Viterbo University with a BFA in Theatre: Directing and Arts Administration. While at Viterbo, she directed, stage managed, designed sound, and worked on crew for many different shows; she also saw two of her original short plays staged. Originally from Iowa, she did theatre with Theatre Cedar Rapids, Brucemore, and Urban Theatre Project of Iowa. Favorite past shows include writing for six Underground New Play Festivals and directing Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, The Baltimore Waltz, A Feminine Ending, and Brilliant Traces. Since moving to Nashville, she has had one of her plays staged at Lakewood Theatre Company. Erica is delighted to have recently joined the staff at Nashville Repertory Theatre and looks forward to making more theatre in Tennessee.
