  • Brunogala Festschrift Web.Pdf
VORWORT VORWORT ast unglaublich.

LUISS TEACHING CASES Macron. The Strategic Role of Sponsorship to Sustain Brand Growth Marco Francesco Mazzù Luiss University In cooperation with Macron Management and Antea Gambicorti TEACHING CASES 2020 ISBN 978-88-6105-571-1 Introduction It was 7pm and the sun was going down the hills of Valsamoggia. The CEO Gianluca Pavanello was observing the work in progress for the Macron new headquarters : two buildings of 22.000 sqm crossed by a canal. Facing the building site of the new offices and distribution center, symbol of the fast growth of the company, the CEO asked himself: “We have done so much until now, but right now we are in front of a crossroads. How can we continue to achieve growth in the complex context where we operate?”. From a unique Italian distributor of baseball equipment on behalf of MacGregor USA and other American baseball brands, in 1971, Macron then twisted its offer, entering in the arena of profes- sional football sponsorships. This signed the company trajectory towards the sports sponsorships, before only in Italy and then also abroad, until to reach today 71% of revenues abroad and 29% in Italy. The Macron rapid and stable improvement, especially in teamwear as its core business, reached the highest point in 2018, when the UEFA gave to the company three recognitions: the definition of Macron in “The European Club footballing landscape” (2018) as the third most im- portant supplier in the world of European football, after Nike and Adidas; the decision to choose the Italian sports brand as its official partner for the supply of apparel to the smaller football fed- erations for the years 2018-2022; choose again Macron as Official Referee kits supplier to all the referees of all the UEFA competitions (the most important: Champions League, Europa League, Euro 2020 and Nations League).

  • Eva Lavric the Football Player's Feet
EVA LAVRIC (UNIVERSITY OF INNSBRUCK) THE FOOTBALL PLAYER’S FEET – AND TONGUE: COULD IT BE THAT THEY BOTH COUNT?1 And yet the language counts: Whoever believes that only feet speak on the football pitch, is wrong. In the past decade, sociolinguistic research has discovered multilingualism in football teams as a topic. Especially productive research has emerged from the Innsbruck Football Research Group, which present their latest results in this contribution. Based on the empirical work of our project seminars but also on a collection of press articles on linguistic issues in football, we throw light on those aspects that have been added since the last publications. 1. Introduction «Feet Speak Louder Than the Tongue» multilingualism – this is the title of the first scientific article ever published on the theme of multilingualism in football (Kellermann / Koonen / van der Haagen 2006). This title takes up a much repeated adage, when fans get enthusiastic about “football as a universal language” – a slogan suggesting that the core of football talent does not reside in the tongue, but in a part situated at the other end of the body. 1 A former and partially different version of this text was published in German in a spe- cial issue of the journal Aptum (Lavric 2018). — 39 — The football player’s feet – and tongue And yet, one is entitled to raise doubts about this pseudo-truth, and to reflect upon the importance of linguistic competences in a sport where success depends largely on good cooperation within the team. In this contribution we shall address the question whether, besides the feet – whose importance nobody will deny – the success of a player and a team might also depend on their tongues, i.e.

  • Leagues Competitions Overview
Leagues’ Competitions Overview SEASON 2021/22 01 Leagues’ Competitions Overview SEASON 2021/22 FOREWORD League Football is back! In the middle of a summer rich of sport events with Euro 2020 finally cheered by the public in the stadiums and the Olympic Games successfully delivered in Tokyo, the football arenas are ready to welcome back fans and players for an exciting new season of domestic club football. We are glad to present to the whole football community this Leagues’ Competitions Overview, a document which contains - country by country- all key competition elements of our Member Leagues. During the past years, a few Leagues have presented innovations in their Competition Formats which we are happy to display in this report. Fans across Europe can now enjoy traditional league formats but also championships with new and creative competition systems with the introduction of play-off & play-out mechanisms which generate more compelling and interesting final parts of the season for their participating clubs, whether to win the title or to qualify for a European ticket but also to gain the permanence in the top division or its access. Other innovations are related to the introduction of new Kick-Off Times over the weekend to match the interests of a growing international audience and those of broadcasting and other commercial partners. And of course, the report provides insights on the Calendar and Players’ Transfer Windows for the approaching season for both all our summer and winter leagues. The Calendar for the upcoming 2020/21 season appears rich of games but also quite congested as we are approaching 2022 - the year with the FIFA World Cup in November/December – with its unusual and highly debated schedule which will impact domestic league football calendars for more than a season.
