Kildare, will both stand for i40,000, Darley announced yesterday. The five-year-old Manduro, the world’s highest-rated horse before his retirement, was highweighted juvenile in Germany and highweighted older horse in France. He was unbeaten in five starts this year, including wins in the G1 Prix d’Ispahan, G1 Prince of Wales’s S. and G1 Prix Jacques le Marois. Teofilo, Europe’s champion juvenile last season, was undefeated in five lifetime starts. He won last year’s G1 National S. and G1 Dewhurst S. Darley Fee Story cont. Darley has reduced stud fees on a number of its high- profile stallions. Singspiel (Ire) (In the Wings {GB}-- Glorious Song, by Halo) will stand the 2008 season at ^15,000--down from ^35,000 in 2007, while Halling (Diesis {GB}--Dance Machine, by Green Dancer) will stand for ^12,000--down from ^20,000 in 2007. “Sheikh Mohammed’s long-term goal is to stand the world’s best stallions, and he is well aware that great sires emerge from a healthy breeding industry,” ex- plained bloodstock advisor John Ferguson. “Our prices give breeders with quality mares the chance to produce top-class horses at reduced cost, and breeders planning for the yearling market of 2010 can do so with in- creased confidence. I’m absolutely certain that our proven stallions stand at a fraction of their value, and that our high-profile young horses could hold their own at far higher fees. But Sheikh Mohammed is determined that breeders who use Darley stallions get the better of the deal.”

AMADEUS WOLF RETIRES Amadeus Wolf (GB) (Mozart {Ire}--Rachelle {Ire}, by Mark of Esteem {Ire}) has run his last race and will head to the Irish National Stud. The four-year-old was owned initially by John Duddy and Brendan McDonald, and a 50-percent share was purchased by the Co. Kildare Stud and Dermot Farrington Bloodstock after his success in the 2005 G1 Middle Park S. at Newmarket. Trained by Kevin Ryan, Amadeus Wolf was successful in four of his 17 races, earning nearly £400,000 in prizemoney. Alongside his Middle Park success, he also captured the same year’s G2 Gimcrack S. at York and inflicted his third defeat on eventual G1 Haydock Sprint Cup hero Red Clubs (Ire) in the G2 Duke of York S. at York in May. He was also runner-up in the G1 Nunthorpe S. and third in the G1 Prix Maurice de Gheest and G1 Haydock Sprint Cup last year. “Amadeus Wolf is exceptionally good-looking,” commented the Stud’s Chairperson Lady Chryss O’Reilly. “And being a grandson of Danehill from the most sought after sire-line in Europe, breeders will no doubt be very to support him next season.” No fee has been set for the colt.
