GORN The Bare- Knuckle Era Origins of the Ring Fistic combat goes back at least as far as ancient Greece and Rome. Pindar , in 474 BC , celebrated Diagoras ’ victory in the Greek Olympiad: “But do thou, O father Zeus, that rulest over the height of Atabyrium, grant honour to the hymn ordained in praise of an Olympian victor, and to the hero who hath found fame for his prowess as a boxer; and do though give him grace and reverence in the eyes of citizens and of strangers too. For he goeth in a straight course along a path that hateth insolence.” Worthy of Zeus’ blessing, the successful boxer was a man of moral as well as physical excel- lence. -
The Johnson-Jeffries Fight and Censorship of Black Supremacy
THE JOHNSON-JEFFRIES FIGHT 100 YEARS THENCE: THE JOHNSON-JEFFRIES FIGHT AND CENSORSHIP OF BLACK SUPREMACY Barak Y. Orbach* In April 2010, the Supreme Court handed down its decision in United States v. Stevens, in which the Court struck down a federal law that banned the depiction of conduct that was illegal in any state. Exactly one hundred years earlier, without any federal law, censorship of conduct illegal under state law and socially con- demned mushroomed in most towns and cities across the country. In the summer of 1910, states and municipalities adopted bans on prizefight films in order to censor black supremacy in controver- sial sport that was illegal in most states. It was one of the worst waves of movie censorship in American history, but it has been largely ignored and forgotten. Bonjasky to Have Full Fight Camp Following New Year's
BONJASKY TO HAVE FULL FIGHT CAMP FOLLOWING NEW YEAR’S EVE TOURNAMENT PARTICIPATION London, England (Nov. 23, 2012) – The highly-anticipated showdown between Remy Bonjasky (76-14, 40 KO’s) and Tyrone Spong (68-6-1 42 KO’s) will take place on Saturday, March 23 at the Excel Arena in London, England, it was announced today by Glory Sports International (GSI), parent company of the Glory World Series. The bout had previously been set for February 16 but with Bonjasky being set to participate in the GLORY 4 – TOKYO: GRAND SLAM 16-man mega-tournament on New Year’s Eve, it was decided that February would potentially be too soon for him to get back in the ring. He will now have several more weeks to recover from his tournament bouts and get in peak condition for his first-time meeting with Spong. “Remy was more than happy to take part in the tournament and then fight again in February,” explains GLORY Chairman Pierre Andurand. “But this is the first time that he and Spong will have fought and there was such huge interest in the match when we announced it that we decided to move the date and give him some time to rest up. It means that he and Spong will be in peak condition when they face each other.” Marcus Luer, Managing Director of GLORY, added, “The worldwide interest in Spong vs. Bonjasky has been absolutely huge. Within literally minutes of it being announced we were inundated with requests for tickets and broadcast details. “With this fight being of such magnitude to fans worldwide, we want both fighters to be at their absolute best for this historic first meeting. -

Read Ebook {PDF EPUB} Cutman by Josie Kerr Cutman DS Fight Club Volume 5 Josie Kerr Books. Cutman DS Fight Club Volume 5 Josie Kerr Books Reviews. I think this is my second favorite in the series. Great read ! Enjoyed reading this book and reading about the characters and their story. Looking forward to reading more from this author. Returning from overseas, Navy warriors adapt to civilian life at a fight club. PTSD, pain, love, uncertainty plague the love triangle that a few men battle through. Oh I totally enjoyed Ryan and Junior's story! The two men have danced around one another for years and now? They are going to get their HEA. Or. will they? Read it and find out! I liked this story. It has a lot of emotions and also shows how someone deals with PTSD. I liked the he way it was written and had great chemistry between the he characters. Will be reading more from Ms. Kerr. A few days later I read it again. There is no logical explanation for how well Josie Kerr can write same sex stories with such command, but she carries it off every time. This was the second of her books I read and thoroughly loved, the first being TRAINER. The characters are true to life, the situations believable, and the romance palpable. Well, I liked the cover and got the book. It had a clear point of view and stayed true through out the book. I enjoyed reading this story, all about love, and I mean all.
