CAMPING CLOSURE Pacific Crest Tahoe Rim Trail

A. PROHIBITIONS

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(a) and (b), the following act is prohibited in the area described in this Order, located within the Carson and Bridgeport Ranger Districts, Humboldt- Toiyabe National Forest.

1. Camping in dispersed camping areas including the Carson Iceberg and Hoover wilderness [36 CFR 261.58(e)]

2. Being on the and the Tahoe Rim Trail [36 CFR 261.55(a)]

B. EXEMPTIONS

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(a), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

1. Persons with a written Forest Service authorization specifically exempting them from the effect of this Order.

2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

3. Developed hosted campgrounds that are open for camping.

C. AREA DESCRIBED

All National Forest System lands located on the Carson Ranger District within the state of north of Highway 50 to the Northern District Boundary. The Pacific Crest Trail on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. The Tahoe Rim Trail from the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest boundary east of Freel Meadows to the California/ border.

All National Forest System lands located on the Bridgeport Ranger District within the state of California. Order Number: 04-17-21-13

D. PURPOSE

The purpose of this order is to protect public health, and safety due to the extreme fire danger.

E. IMPLEMENTATION

1. This Special Order is effective at 12:00 P.M. on September 1, 2021 and shall remain in effect until September 17, 2021 at 12:00 P.M. unless terminated prior to that date.

2. Exhibit A, Map and Exhibit B, definitions are attached and incorporated into this Order.

Violation of these prohibitions is punishable as a class B misdemeanor, by a fine of not more than $5000.00 for an individual or $10,000.00 for an organization/or imprisonment of not more than 6 months [Title 16 USC 551, 18 USC 3571 (b)(6), Title 18 USC 3581 (b)(7)].
