World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2015

Towards a Greener Initiative

Davos-, 21-24 January

General information

At the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2015, the Forum will pursue an initiative that it introduced five years ago to address participants’ concerns about the environmental impact of the Meeting.

The Towards a Greener Davos initiative aims to lower the amount of pollutants released into the environment by the over 2,600 participants and staff travelling to and within Davos and Klosters. This initiative further advances the Forum’s mission of improving the state of the world.

This year again, a complimentary shuttle bus service will operate exclusively for Annual Meeting participants from (Kloten) Airport to Davos and Klosters, and back to the airport. The shuttle service will run every hour on the hour on Tuesday 20 January from 07.00 to 22.00 and Wednesday 21 January from 07.00 to 19.00. On Sunday 25 January, shuttles will operate for the return from Davos from 05.00 to 12.00 every hour on the hour, and from Klosters from 05.15 to 12.15 every hour at 15 minutes past the hour.

As an alternative to the shuttle service, participants can take the train from Zurich Airport to Davos and back. The World Economic Forum has negotiated a special rate with the Swiss National Railways from which our participants can benefit (conditions apply).

In addition, a dedicated first-class shuttle service will run frequently within Davos at 10-minute intervals, allowing drop-off service at the Congress Centre and hotels, including the secured hotels (Steigenberger Grandhotel Belvédère, Kongress Hotel, Hotel Hilton Garden Inn, Hotel Seehof and Hotel InterContinental). Shuttles from Klosters to Davos and back will be provided for participants staying in Klosters.

Greener Davos car sticker

In addition to these efforts to reduce overall traffic, emissions can be significantly lowered by restricting circulation in Davos to environmentally friendly vehicles. To support the Towards a Greener Davos initiative and to receive a Greener Davos sticker granting the access to the secured hotels (Kongress Hotel, Hotel Hilton Garden Inn, Hotel Seehof, Hotel Steigenberger Belvédère and Hotel InterContinental) for drop-off and pick-up of guests, the following requirements must be met from Monday 19 January at 18.00 to Sunday 25 January, inclusive.

Limousine: CO2 emission rate maximum 165g/km Van (vehicles with 6-9 seats, including driver): CO2 emission rate maximum 232g/km

To verify whether your vehicle meets the requirements, please check the following website: http://www.bfe.admin.ch/energieetikette/00886/04331/index.html?lang=de

If your vehicle is not in the database, please contact us at [email protected].

These requirements do not apply to vehicles with a capacity of more than nine seats, including the driver.

Greener Davos car sticker issuing and delivery

To acquire a Greener Davos car sticker, both driver and vehicle need to be registered in advance. The vehicle needs to be registered through the dedicated car sticker portal www.weforumcarsticker.org and the driver has to apply for a hotel badge through the hotel badge portal www.weforumhotel.org by mentioning Greener Davos in the required field.

Hotel Badge OUT for drivers

The “Hotel Badge OUT” for drivers costs CHF 50 and is valid from Monday 19 January to Sunday 25 January.

Each driver needs to apply for a Hotel Badge OUT, which grants the access to the exterior zone of the secured hotels and allows the drop-off and pick-up of guests (Kongress Hotel, Hotel Hilton Garden Inn, Hotel Seehof, Hotel Steigenberger Belvédère and Hotel Intercontinental).

Delivery of badge and sticker on site

The Greener Davos car sticker is based on a vehicle model/car paper inspection in Davos and is delivered after having collected the driver’s badge.

Greener Davos car stickers and Hotel Badge OUT will be issued at the Parsenn-Parkplatz as follows:

• Sunday 18 January: 14.00 - 01.00 • Monday 19 January to Saturday 24 January: 07.00 - 01.00

During the night after closure of the Parsenn-Parkplatz, the Greener Davos car sticker and the Hotel Badge OUT will be issued at Registration at the Kurgartenstrasse.

Cars with CD plates are exempt from the Greener Davos requirements, but the procedure is the same, vehicle and drivers need to register in advance.

Please note that badge is personal and will be only handed to the registered driver (on presentation of ID or passport).

Requests submitted after 17 January 18.00 will not be considered (for both Hotel Badge OUT and Greener Davos car sticker).

Vehicle waiting zones

Vehicles with a Greener Davos car sticker may access the following special waiting zones: • Kirchner Museum (opposite the Steigenberger Grandhotel Belvédère) • Panorama (Kurgartenstrasse) • Registration (Kurgartenstrasse)

As waiting zones are not parking areas, the driver has to stay in the car and the engine has to be turned off. If a driver does not comply with the above-mentioned regulations, the car sticker will be irrevocably removed by the police and, according to circumstances, the vehicle may be towed.

Horlauben is not a waiting zone, but a drop-off/pick-up zone.

There will be a dedicated temporary parking zone (parking allowed up to 6 hours) at the Flüelastrasse near the Hotel InterContinental. Vehicles with a Greener Davos car sticker can access the Hotel InterContinental for drop-off and pick-up. In case of snow and bad meteorological conditions, 4WD or snow chains are mandatory. A shuttle service will run between the temporary parking zone and the Hotel InterContinental. Please be aware that there is no access for pedestrians.
