Annual Report College Day 2020 Annual Report 2019-2020 Presented on July 28, 2020 Gargi's Mission Statement .... That every student who passes through the portals of the college emerges as a wholly developed individual symbolizing the spirit of enterprise and inquiry that characterises Gargi. CONTENTS From Chairperson’s Desk Principal’s Welcome Address and Highlights of 2019-20 Governing Body Members Students’ Council Academic Results Faculty Achievements Beyond Curriculum Departmental Activities Activities of Cultural Societies Value Building Invited Speakers of Eminence Webinars Organised Sports Round-up FROM CHAIRPERSON’S DESK Dear Teachers, Students and Staff, Foremost I would like to extend my warm-hearted congratulations to everyone for their commendable work which has made us to secure the 16th position in the NIRF rankings. I would further like to urge all to move ahead with similar coordination, determination, focus and teamwork to reach newer heights. The aim is not just to reach the top position in India but also to be counted within renowned Colleges at a global level. Let us all synchronize our rhythm and buckle up for the same. I would also like to remind you to stay safe during the current challenging times. Until the cure is found, taking precautionary steps is the key to one’s good health. ‘Prevention is always better than Cure’. COVID-19 has changed our approach to education and has pushed us to adapt accordingly. ‘Verily with Hardships comes Ease’ and indeed, these tough times have helped us prepare better for the upcoming technological advances. Instead of focusing on the uncertainties, we must embrace this change and gear up for facing the challenges. This will also help us in devising the methodologies that will be useful in the long run. Digitisation of the Education System, which might have taken longer to get into the mainstream has now become the New Normal. The Future is here and it’s here to stay. Wishing you all Good Luck. Sd/- Prof. Rihan Khan Suri Chairperson, Governing Body Page 1 PRINCIPAL’S WELCOME ADDRESS AND HIGHLIGHTS OF 2019-20 उद्यमेन हि हिध्यहति कायााहि न मनोरथैः। नहि िुप्तय सििय प्रहिशहति मुखे मृगा:।। A person is successful with enterprise and not by desires. • Over 300 Academicians, Activists, Artists and Writers Condemn the State Violence and Unlawful Detention of Facul
Over 300 academicians, activists, artists and writers condemn the state violence and unlawful detention of faculty and student protesters of the University of Hyderabad We, academicians, activists, artists and writers, condemn the ongoing brutal attacks on and unlawful detention of peacefully protesting faculty and students at the University of Hyderabad by the University administration and the police. We also condemn the restriction of access to basic necessities such as water and food on campus. The students and faculty members of the University of Hyderabad were protesting the reinstatement of Dr. Appa Rao Podile as the ViceChancellor despite the ongoing judicial enquiry against him related to the circumstances leading to the death of the dalit student th Rohith Vemula on January 17 , 2016. Students and faculty members of the university community are concerned that this may provide him the opportunity to tamper with evidence and to influence witnesses. Suicides by dalit students have been recurring in the University of Hyderabad and other campuses across the country. The issue spiraled into a nationwide students’ protest with the death of the dalit scholar Rohith Vemula. The protests have pushed into the foreground public discussion and debate on the persistence of castebased discrimination in educational institutions, and surveillance and suppression of dissent and intellectual debate in university spaces. Since the morning of March 22 when Dr. Appa Rao returned to campus, the students and staff have been in a siegelike situation. The peacefully protesting staff and students were brutally lathicharged by the police, and 27 people were taken into custody.

  • Contributions of Lala Har Dayal As an Intellectual and Revolutionary
CONTRIBUTIONS OF LALA HAR DAYAL AS AN INTELLECTUAL AND REVOLUTIONARY ABSTRACT THESIS SUBMITTED FOR THE AWARD OF THE DEGREE OF ^ntiat ai pijtl000pi{g IN }^ ^ HISTORY By MATT GAOR CENTRE OF ADVANCED STUDY DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY ALIGARH (INDIA) 2007 ,,» '*^d<*'/. ' ABSTRACT India owes to Lala Har Dayal a great debt of gratitude. What he did intotality to his mother country is yet to be acknowledged properly. The paradox ridden Har Dayal - a moody idealist, intellectual, who felt an almost mystical empathy with the masses in India and America. He kept the National Independence flame burning not only in India but outside too. In 1905 he went to England for Academic pursuits. But after few years he had leave England for his revolutionary activities. He stayed in America and other European countries for 25 years and finally returned to England where he wrote three books. Har Dayal's stature was so great that its very difficult to put him under one mould. He was visionary who all through his life devoted to Boddhi sattava doctrine, rational interpretation of religions and sharing his erudite knowledge for the development of self culture. The proposed thesis seeks to examine the purpose of his returning to intellectual pursuits in England. Simultaneously the thesis also analyses the contemporary relevance of his works which had a common thread of humanism, rationalism and scientific temper. Relevance for his ideas is still alive as it was 50 years ago. He was true a patriotic who dreamed independence for his country. He was pioneer for developing science in laymen and scientific temper among youths.
