A dog slaughter ring in Shenzhen was shut down on March 16 after animal rights activists spent almost 40 hours protesting outside the site. Members of the Shenzhen City Canine Society posed as purchasers of dog carcasses in order to enter the compounds, where they found hundreds of iron cages packed with dogs.
