The Story Coming in the Medicine Hat Tigers Scored Four Unanswered Goals in the Final Frame to Defeat the Prince Albert Raiders 8-4 on Wednesday Night The Story Coming In The Medicine Hat Tigers scored four unanswered goals in the final frame to defeat the Prince Albert Raiders 8-4 on Wednesday night. Veteran forwards Brett Kemp and Ryan Chyzowski each scored hat tricks in the contest while linemate, rookie forward Cole Sillinger had a 6 point night (1G, 5A). The Orange and Black are now 22-8-1-0 and they are led by their Captain James Hamblin with 49 points (17G, 32A). After tonight’s game in Red Deer, the Tigers will return home to host the Edmonton Oil Kings for their final game before the holiday break. Tigers vs. Rebels Tonight’s matchup will be the fourth meeting between the Tigers and the Rebels this season. The Rebels won the first contest 4-3 in overtime before the Tigers took the next two games, 9-1 and 4- 3 in a shootout. Captain James Hamblin leads the Tigers with 5 points (2G, 3A) in the series so far. The Tigers are 15-5-1-0 against the Rebels over the past five years and 8-2-0-0 when playing in Red Deer. After tonight, these two clubs won’t meet again until March 10th, 2020, in Medicine Hat. View from Red Deer The Red Deer Rebels fell 4-2 to the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Wednesday night in Lethbridge. Rookie forward Jace Isley scored his first career WHL goal in the contest. Red Deer is now 10-17- 0-3 and they are led by Arshdeep Bains with 21 points on the season. The Rebels return home to host the Medicine Hat Tigers tonight and the Swift Current Broncos on Saturday before their holiday break. Tigers Talent Lukas Svejkovsky is an 18-year-old skilful centre in his first year of NHL Draft Eligibility. The Point Roberts, Washington product joined the Tigers December 7th, 2019, from the Vancouver Giants along with veteran defenceman Dylan Plouffe. Svejkovsky plays with finesse and has a high hockey IQ. In his first three games with his new squad, Svejkovsky has two goals. Captain’s Corner Captain James Hamblin is leading the league in scoring with 49 points (17G, 32A). The 20-year-old Edmonton is also leading the league in assists with 32 and he recorded his first five point night of his career (all assists) on Tuesday against the Blades. Hamblin is a speedy, hard working forward who leads the Tigers by example. Look for the Captain to make an impact in tonight’s contest. Quick Hits Today is Mads Søgaard’s 19th birthday. The Danish netminder is currently in Belarus, Minsk competing for his country along with forward Jonathan Brinkman in the 2020 U20 World Championship Division 1 Group A tournament. Denmark has one overtime win and two losses in the tournament so far and they play against Norway today. The Medicine Hat Tigers travelled to Saskatchewan earlier this week where they scored 19 goals in two games defeating the Saskatoon Blades 11-1 and the Prince Albert Raiders 8-4. In the two contests, three players scored hat tricks. Cyle McNabb scored his first career WHL hat trick Tuesday night against his former team. Brett Kemp and Ryan Chyzowski each scored a hat trick on Wednesday night in Prince Albert. It was Kemp’s second hat trick of his WHL career and Chyzowski’s first. The only other Tiger with a WHL hat trick is Captain James Hamblin who scored his Nov 2, 2019, against Victoria. 16-year-old forward Cole Sillinger recorded his first six point night (1G, 5A) on Wednesday against the Blades and his eighth multi point night of his career. He is now leading the league in rookie scoring with 34 points (12G, 22A). The Wawanesa Toy Drive in support of the Medicine Hat News Santa Claus Fund is December 14th when the Tigers host the Edmonton Oil Kings. He played minor hockey in Lethbridge before moving on to play three seasons in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. He then accepted an NCAA Division I scholarship to St. Lawrence University, graduating as the school’s all-time leader in games played and saves, and was second in all- time wins and shutouts.     The Story Coming In The Medicine Hat Tigers host the Calgary Hitmen tonight for the third meeting in the course of a week between these two hockey clubs. The Tigers defeated the Hitmen 3-1 Saturday in Medicine Hat before falling 4-2 on Wednesday in Calgary. The Orange and Black are 23-11-1-1 and they are led by their Captain James Hamblin with 55 points (19G, 36A) and veteran forward Brett Kemp with 43 points (16G, 27A). After tonight’s game, the Tabbies will host the Seattle Thunderbirds on Saturday before departing early next week to Manitoba to take on the Brandon Wheat Kings Tuesday and the Winnipeg ICE on Wednesday. Tigers vs. Hitmen Tonight’s game between the Tigers and the Hitmen will be their third meeting in seven days and their fifth battle of the season. The Hitmen won all three games played at the Saddledome and the Tabbies have won the lone game played at the Canalta Centre. After tonight, Medicine Hat and Calgary will not meet again until March 6th at the Canalta Centre. The Tigers are 11-9-2-0 against the Hitmen over the past five years and 7-2-1-0 when playing at home.
