3 Descendants of James Warburton & Mary Shone First Generation

1. James Warburton. James was born abt 1784. ■ Census for Caldecott, , in 1841. James, an agricultural labourer, and Mary, both aged 60 are present with daughter Mary (15). James is indexed as Barburton on Ancestry. ■ Census for Caldecott, Cheshire, in 1851. This entry is not on Ancestry but Robert Warburton reports James (67), a farm labourer, and Mary (66), both born in Chorlton (Book II P22). ■ Census for Farndon, Cheshire, in 1861. James is staying with his married daughter Ann Price.

It is not known if James was related to the Shocklach families descended from the Thomas who died in 1730, or if he was a newcomer from elsewhere. He uses similar Christian names for his sons (William, James, and Samuel), but his baptism hasn't been found at Shocklach.

On 3 Aug 1806 when James was 22, he married Mary Shone in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire. Mary was born abt 1779. Mary died in 1852. She was buried in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 15 Mar 1852.

Mary was 73 years old on her burial record. This seems high. Her age of 66 on the 1851 census seems more realistic as she would still be 42 when her last child was born.

They had the following children: i. Ann(e) Warburton. Ann(e) was born in Shocklach, Cheshire, in 1808. She was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 7 Aug 1808.

On 6 Jan 1831 when Ann(e) was 23, she married Edward Price in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire. Ann and Edward's children were Emma (b. cir 1833), Harriet (b. cir 1835), Mary (b. cir 1839), Thomas (b. cir 1841), Hannah (b. cir 1845), Charles (b. cir 1847), George (b. cir 1848), and Alfred (b. cir 1853). Edward was born in Farndon, Cheshire, abt 1804. ■ Census for Farndon, Cheshire, in 1861. Edward (56) and agricultural labourer, is living with Ann (52), Hannah (15), George (12), and Alfred (7). Also present is Ann's father James (77), an agricultural labourer born in Tilston. ii. Charles Warburton. Charles was born in Caldecott, Cheshire, abt 1808. He was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 17 Jun 1810. Charles died in 1882. ■ Census for , Cheshire, in 1861. Charles (54), a farm bailiff, and Ann (59) are living at 3 Mossley Road. ■ Census for Woodbank, Cheshire, in 1871. A Charles, aged 60, unmarried, and born in Malpas is a servant at the Yacht Inn. ■ Census for Puddington, Cheshire, in 1881. Charles (72) of

4 First Generation Shocklich (sic) is a general servant to James Morton a farm bailiff born in Scotland. His a widower (I think; the entry is heavily marked).

There is no Charles from the Malpas area in the 1841 or 1851 censuses, and only one in each of the 1861 and 1871 censuses. In 1881 a Charles Warbuton of Shocklich is a servant to a farm bailiff in Puddington, , and in 1882 the death of Charles aged 74 is registered at Neston reference C BMD NES/10/50.

These references probably relate to the same man. The one in 1861 is from Caldecott but 4 years too old (though only 2 years based on his age at death). His wife Ann ties in with the marriage record of Charles and Ann Roycroft. The Charles in 1871 is unmarried, and from Malpas. Malpas is a common generalisation for the area and the unmarried status might be a mistake given he was just an employee, and possibly a widower. However the job seems a come down from farm bailiff. In 1881 he is from Shocklach, and although a servant he is working for a farm bailiff. He is also a widower. If Charles and Ann had any children they had left home by 1861.

On 3 Mar 1837 when Charles was 29, he married Ann Roycroft in Farndon, Cheshire. Ann was born in Broxton, Cheshire, abt 1801. 2 iii. James Warburton (->1871) 3 iv. Joseph Warburton (1815-<1901) 4 v. George Warburton 5 vi. Samuel Warburton (1819-1899) 6 vii. William Warburton (-1883) viii. Hannah Warburton. She was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 13 Jun 1824. ix. Mary Warburton. She was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 27 May 1827.

5 Descendants of James Warburton & Mary Shone Second Generation

2. James Warburton (James1). He was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 4 Oct 1812. James died aft 1871. ■ Census for Farndon, Cheshire, in 1841. James (26) is an agricultural labourer living with Ann (30), Harriet (4), and Ann (2) at by Farndon. ■ Census for Whitby, , Cheshire, in 1851. Jas (37) is an agricultural labourer living at 11 Primrose Hill with Ann (41), Harriet (14), Ann (12), and Emma (6). ■ Census for Preston-on-the-Hill, Warrnigton, Cheshire, in 1861. James (49) a canal carrier's porter of Caldecott is living at 17 Road with Ann (51) of Churton (near Farndon), Emma (15) of Holt, Denbighshire, and Elizabeth (9) of Ellesmere Port. James is indexed as Warbinton by Ancestry. ■ Census for Preston-on-the-Hill, Warrnigton, Cheshire, in 1871. James (59) is a labourer from Caldecott living with Ann (61) of Churton, and Emma (22) of Farndon.

Neither James nor his wife can be found in the 1881 census.

In Apr 1834 James married Ann Conway in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire. Ann was born in Churton, Farndon, Cheshire, abt 1809. Ann died aft 1871.

They had the following children: i. Harriet Warburton. Harriet was born in Crewe by Farndon, Cheshire, abt 1836.

In 1860 when Harriet was 24, she married Hugh Sands in Chester, Holy Trinity, Cheshire. This is a possible marriage for Harriet, reference C BMD CE/12/2/365. The couple are not present in the 1861 or 1871 censuses. ii. Ann Warburton. Ann was born in Crewe by Farndon, Cheshire, abt 1838. iii. Emma Warburton. Emma was born in Holt, Denbighshire, abt 1844. iv. Elizabeth Warburton. Elizabeth was born in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, abt 1851.

3. Joseph Warburton (James1). Joseph was born in Caldecott, Cheshire, in 1815. He was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 19 Mar 1815. Joseph died bef 1901. ■ Census for Farndon, Cheshire, in 1851. Joseph (30), is a farm labourer living with Elizabeth (29), John (12), George (9), Emma (6), Elizabeth (5), Joseph (4), and Harriet (1). ■ Census for Crewe by Farndon, Cheshire, in 1861. Joseph (66) is an agricultural labourer living in Crewe Lane with Elizabeth (67) and Emma (35) occupation "sew domestic". ■ Census for Farndon, Cheshire, in 1891. Joseph (76) a farm labourer is a widower living alone.

6 Second Generation On 18 Nov 1839 when Joseph was 24, he married Elizabeth Edwards in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire. Elizabeth was born in Crewe by Farndon, Cheshire, abt 1822. Elizabeth died bef 1891.

They had the following children: 7 i. John Warburton (~1840-) 8 ii. George Warburton (~1841-) iii. Emma Warburton. Emma was born in Farndon, Cheshire, abt 1843. ■ Census for , Cheshire, in 1861. Emma (17) of Farndon is a house sevant at Lords Fields in the house of Thomas Huxley, a farmer of 88 acres. Also present are George Warburton (19), a carter, and Joseph Warburton (13) a ploughboy, both also from Farndon. iv. Elizabeth Warburton. She was christened abt 1845. v. Joseph Warburton. Joseph was born in Farndon, Cheshire, abt 1846. ■ Census for Church Shocklach, Cheshire, in 1861. Joseph (13) of Farndon is a ploughboy at Lords Fields in the house of Thomas Huxley, a farmer of 88 acres. Also present are George Warburton (19), a carter, and Emma Warburton (17) a house servant, both also from Farndon. ■ Census for Caldecott, Cheshire, in 1871. Joseph (21) of Crewe [by Farndon] is an agricultural labourer on the farm of Thomas Ankers. ■ Census for Caldecott, Cheshire, in 1881. James (29) is an agricultural labourer at Calcecott Hall.

Joseph is missing from the 1891 and 1901 censuses. vi. Harriet Warburton. Harriet was born in Crewe by Farndon, Cheshire, abt 1848. vii. Caroline Warburton. Caroline was born in Crewe by Farndon, Cheshire, abt 1856.

4. George Warburton (James1). He was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 6 Apr 1817. ■ Census for Bangor, Flintshire, in 1861. George (45) is an agricultural labourer at Bank (?) Farm with Mary (46), Thomas (13), Ann (11), and lodger Elizabeth Richards (72) from Staffordshire. ■ Census for Bangor, Flintshire, in 1871. George (55) is a farmer of 8 acres, living with wife Mary (59), married daughter Anne Williams (21), her husband Cadwalader (26), a saddler, their son George Henry (1), and mother-in-law Elizabeth Richards (84).

George and Mary cannot be found in the censuses after 1871.

In Dec 1843 George married Mary Richards in , Denbighshire. Marriage ref:

7 Second Generation FreeBMD Wrexham 27 411. Mary was born in Bangor, Flintshire, abt 1811.

They had the following children: i. Thomas Warburton. Thomas was born in Caldecott, Cheshire, abt 1847.

Thomas has not been identified in the censuses after 1861. ii. Anne Warburton. Anne was born in Bangor, Flintshire, abt 1849.

Anne married Cadwalader Williams. Ann and Cadwalader had a son called George Henry (b. circa 1849). Cadwalader was born in St Asaph, Flintshire, abt 1844.

5. Samuel Warburton (James1). Samuel was born in 1819. He was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 31 Oct 1819. Samuel died in 1899. ■ Census for Caldecott, Cheshire, in 1851. This entry is indexed by Ancestry as Warborton. Samuel (32) is a farm labourer living with Hannah (26), Samuel (4), Richard (2), and James (8 months). James's age is given as 8 but 8 months is assumed. ■ Census for Caldecott, Cheshire, in 1861. This entry is indexed by Ancestry as Warbah (and looks like it on the image). Samuel (41) is an agricultural labourer living with Hannah (38), Richard (12), James (10), Owen (8), Elizabeth (6), Robert (4), Edward (2), and Emma (1 month). ■ Census for Caldecott, Cheshire, in 1871. Samuel (50) is an agricultural labourer living next to Caldecott Hall farm with Hannah (49), Robert (13), Emma (10), Anna (7) and Geoerge (4). Anna is presumably Hannah. ■ Census for Caldecott, Cheshire, in 1881. Samuel (50) is an agricultural labourer living at Caldecott Green with Hannah (56), Annie (17), and Jane (6). ■ Census for Caldecott, Cheshire, in 1891. Samuel (69) born Caldecott is an agricultural labourer living with wife Mary (61) who was born in Shocklach.

In the 1891 census Samuel's wife is shown as Mary. This would suggest that Hannah had died and he remarried, as Mary's age and place of birth indicated it is not just a case of Hannah's name being recorded incorrectly. A Mary of Shocklach is on the 1901 census, a widow aged 73, and a dressmaker. This could be his second wife.

Probable death reference is C BMD TAT/20/87, aged 79.

In 1842 when Samuel was 23, he married Hannah Rogers in Chester, St. Peter, Cheshire. Hannah was born in Worthenbury, Flintshire, abt 1821. Hannah died 1886 (pos).

Possible death reference is C BMD Tattenhall TAT/15/71, aged 62.

8 Second Generation They had the following children: 9 i. Samuel Warburton (1846-) ii. Richard Warburton. He was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 27 Aug 1848. Richard died in 1870. He was buried in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 1 Mar 1870.

Richard is 21 on his burial record. iii. James Warburton. He was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 28 Jul 1850. ■ Census for Caldecott, Cheshire, in 1881. James (29) is an agricultural laboourer living with Mary (25) next door to his father. ■ Census for Crewe, Cheshire, in 1901. James (49) is a labourer on the roads, living with wife Mary (46), and neice Maria Foster (13).

James and Mary cannot be found in the 1891 census. The death of a James was registered in Crewe in 1931 (Cheshire BMD CR/11A/032).

On 11 Dec 1877 James married Mary Roberts in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire. Mary was born in Caldecott, Cheshire, abt 1855.

Mary has been associated with the burial of a Mary at Shocklach, St Edith on 11 Dec 1890. However the age at death of 48 does not tie in with the age of James's wife in the 1881 census or the fact she is still present in the 1901 census. iv. Owen Warburton. Owen was born in Caldecott, Cheshire, in 1851. He was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 30 May 1852. ■ Census for Caldecott, Cheshire, in 1871. Owen (19) is a workman at Caldecott Hall farm. ■ Census for Farndon, Cheshire, in 1881. Owen (27) a farm worker is living with Ann (26) at Bridge Street. ■ Census for Caldecott, Cheshire, in 1891. Owen (38) a farmer is living with Ann (37) at The Green. ■ Census for Holt, Denbighshire, in 1901. Owen (46) is a farmer working on own account, living at Pedley Wood (Moorhead Lodge) with wife Ann (46).

In 1874 when Owen was 23, he married Ann Harris in Farndon, St Chad, Cheshire. Ann was born in Shocklach, Cheshire, abt 1854. v. Elizabeth Warburton. She was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 9 Jul 1854. ■ Census for Overton, Cheshire, in 1871. Elizabeth (of Caldecott, aged 16) is a general domestic servant to Henry Weaver.

9 Second Generation On 30 Dec 1876 Elizabeth married George Weaver in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire. vi. Robert Warburton. He was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 4 May 1856. Robert died in 1875. He was buried in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 12 Mar 1875.

Robert was 19 on his burial record. 10 vii. Edward Warburton (1858-) viii. Thomas Warburton. Thomas was born on 23 Feb 1860. He was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 23 Feb 1860. Thomas died on 25 Feb 1860. He was buried in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 26 Feb 1860.

Thomas died aged 2 days so must have been baptised the day he was born. ix. Emma Warburton. She was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 7 Apr 1861. x. Hannah Warburton. She was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 18 Oct 1863. 11 xi. George Warburton (1866-) xii. Jane Warburton. Jane was born in Caldecott, Cheshire, in 1874.

Unlike her siblings Jane's baptism is not recorded at Shocklach and she is only known from the 1881 census. She might be the 13 year old from Malpas who is a general servant in Clutton in 1891 but she is a bit young. Also her mother was rather old when she was born so she may be an illegitimate granddaughter.

6. William Warburton (James1). He was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 21 Jul 1822. William died in 1883. ■ Census for Farndon, Cheshire, in 1851. William (28), is a labourer living with Sarah (29), William (5), Hannah (3) and Charles (4 months). ■ Census for Broughton, Denbighshire, in 1861. William (36) is a widowed labourer living with Charles (10) a coal miner, Edward (7), Mary (5), unmarried sister-in-law Ann Edwards (30) and niece Mary (8). ■ Census for Holt, Denbighshire, in 1871. William (45) is an agricultural labourer living in Francis Lane with Ellen (60). ■ Census for Holt, Denbighshire, in 1881. Willaim (60), a widower, is an agricultural labouer living alone in Francis Lane.

Probable death reference 2q 1883 11b220, aged 62.

In 1844 William first married Sarah Edwards. Wedding registration 1q1844 Wrexham 27/359. Sarah was born in Shocklach, Cheshire, abt 1821. Sarah died in 1856.

10 Second Generation Probable death registration 3q1856 Wrexham 11b194.

They had the following children: 12 i. William Warburton (~1845-) ii. Hannah Warburton. Hannah was born in Farndon, Cheshire, abt 1847. 13 iii. Charles Warburton (~1850-) iv. Edward Warburton. Edward was born in Farndon, Cheshire, abt 1853. ■ Census for Gwersyllt, Denbighshire, in 1871. Edward (19) is a farm labourer at Gwersyllt Farm occupied by Price Bithell.

Edward does not appear in the censuses after 1871 but no death record appears on FreeBMD. v. Mary Warburton. Mary was born in Denbighshire abt 1855.

In 1864 William second married Ellen Lyons. Probable marriage reference 4q1864 Wrexham 11b587. Ellen was born in Isycoed, Denbighshire, abt 1811. Ellen died in 1877.

Death reference 2q1877 Wrexham 11b216, aged 66.

11 Descendants of James Warburton & Mary Shone Third Generation

7. John Warburton (Joseph2, James1). John was born in Farndon, Cheshire, abt 1840. ■ Census for Churton By Alford, Farndon, Cheshire, in 1871. John (30) is a Blacksmith living with Eliza (38) and John (5). ■ Census for Farndon, Cheshire, in 1881. Thomas (40) is a blacksmith living in Chester Road with Elizabeth (38), John (15), George (4), and Thomas (2). ■ Census for Broxton, Cheshire, in 1891. John (50) is a blacksmith and grocer living with John (25) also a blacksmith, Thomas (12), mother-in-law Mary Dutton (77), daughter-in- law Sarah Warburton (30), and granddaughter Emily (1). Also present is nephew Benjamin Dutton (15). John's wife Elizabeth (48), and daughter Mary (7) are visiting Ellen Ann Walker (53) a spinster, at 41 Barton Road, Eccles, Lancashire. ■ Census for Broxton, Cheshire, in 1901. John (60) of King's Marsh (which is near Farndon) is a blacksmith and grocer living with Elizabeth (58) a grocer, and Mary E (17).

In 1864 when John was 24, he married Elizabeth Dutton in Chester, St. Oswald, Cheshire. Marriage reference C BMD CE/15/5/146. Elizabeth was born in Delamere, Cheshire, in 1842.

They had the following children: 14 i. John Warburton (~1865-) 15 ii. George Warburton (~1876-) iii. Thomas Warburton. Thomas was born in Farndon, Cheshire, abt 1878. ■ Census for Garston, Lancashire, in 1901. Thomas (23) is a groom boarding with Charles Hamnet at Rosemound Cottage Elmswood Road. iv. Mary E Warburton. Mary E was born in Broxton, Cheshire, abt 1883.

8. George Warburton (Joseph2, James1). George was born in Farndon, Cheshire, abt 1841. ■ Census for Church Shocklach, Cheshire, in 1861. George (19) of Farndon is a carter at Lords Fields in the house of Thomas Huxley, a farmer of 88 acres. Also present are Emma Warburton (17), a house servant, and Joseph Warburton (13) a ploughboy, both also from Farndon. ■ Census for Birkenhead, Cheshire, in 1881. George Warbuton (39) is a carter living at 235 St Anne Street with Ann (38), Josh. Richard (5), Emma Jane (3), and Caroline (1). ■ Census for Birkenhead, Cheshire, in 1891. George (49) is a general labourer living at 273 St Anne Street with Ann (48), and Ethel (9). ■ Census for Birkenhead, Cheshire, in 1901. George (59) is a teamowners carter living at 273 St Anne Street with Ann (58).

In 1873 when George was 32, he married Ann Griffith in Birkenhead, Cheshire. The most likely marriage reference is 4q1873 Birkenhead 8a734. Ann was born in Shocklach, Cheshire, abt 1842.

12 Third Generation They had the following children: i. Josh Richard Warburton. Josh Richard was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire, abt 1875. Josh Richard died in Birkenhead, Cheshire, in 1884.

Probable death reference, given he is missing from future censuses, is C BMD BIR/76/45, aged 8. ii. Emma Jane Warburton. Emma Jane was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire, abt 1877. ■ Census for Oldcastle, Cheshire, in 1901. Emma (23) a shop assistant is visiting Samuel Caldecott and family at Top Wood Farm. iii. Caroline Warburton. Caroline was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire, abt 1879. Caroline died in Birkenhead, Cheshire, in 1884.

Probable death reference, given she is missing from future censuses is C BMD BIR/76/41, aged 4. iv. Ethel Warburton. Ethel was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire, in 1881. Ethel died in Birkenhead, Cheshire, in 1895.

Probable death reference is C BMD BIR/105/50, aged 13.

9. Samuel Warburton (Samuel2, James1). Samuel was born in 1846. He was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 22 Nov 1846. ■ Census for Coddington, Cheshire, in 1871. Samuel (24), an agricultural labourer, is living with Hannah (26), Mary (1), and John (5 months). ■ Census for Willington, Flintshire, in 1881. Samuel (34) is a labourer living in Field Road with Hannah (38), Mary (11), Richard (10), Emma (6), and William (3). ■ Census for Worthenbury, Flintshire, in 1891. Samuel (44) is a farmer living at Warnatoe with Hannah (46), Owen (9), and John Edward (9). ■ Census for Worthenbury, Flintshire, in 1901. Samuel (55) is a general labourer living with Hannah (58) at Werntoe.

On 8 Dec 1868 when Samuel was 22, he married Hannah Green in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire. Cheshire BMD has the wedding at St Oswald, Malpas ref: CE36/3/198. Notes from Shocklach name her as Ann. Hannah was born in Malpas, Cheshire, abt 1846.

Hannah gives her place of bith as Hamner in Flintshire in the 1871 census, but Malpas on subsequent censuses, and specifically , which is near Malpas in 1881. Interestingly she and Samuel later mover to Hamner suggesting she had connections in the area.

13 Third Generation They had the following children: i. Mary Warburton. Mary was born in , Cheshire, abt 1869.

Birth registration reference on C BMD is Mal/4/68, registered at Malpas. ii. John Warburton. John was born in Malpas, Cheshire, abt 1870. John died bef 1881.

John's birth registration does not appear on C BMD. Full registers not checked. He appears in no census after 1871 and the presence of another John in the family in 1891 suggests he died young. iii. Richard Warburton. Richard was born in Threapwood, Cheshire, abt 1871. ■ Census for Lydford, Devon, in 1891. A Richard (20) farm labourer of Worthenbury, Oxfordshire is a convict. Oxfordshire is probably a mistake as there is no Worthenbury in Oxfordshire.

Richard's identification as the convict in 1891 cannot be certain, and he cannot be found in the 1901 census. iv. Emma Warburton. Emma was born in Willington, Flintshire, abt 1874. v. William Warburton. William was born in Willington, Flintshire, abt 1877. ■ Census for Shocklach, Cheshire, in 1891. William (14) is a farm servant at Soughams farm, occupied by Elizabeth Duckers. ■ Census for Monks Coppenhall, Cheshire, in 1901. A William (23) of Malpas is bricklayer living at 11 Hallowshanks with Annie (23). As no other William of Malpas (or nearby) appears in 1881 or 1891 this is probably this William.

William married Annie. The marriage reference has not been found. Annie was born in Buckley, Flintshire, abt 1877.

Annie's birthplace is given as Buckley, Cheshire in the census but since Buckley, Cheshire is not in Google maps it probably should be the Flintshire one. vi. Owen Warburton. Owen was born in Worthenbury, Flintshire, in 1881.

Owen is absent from the 1901 census. vii. John Edward Warburton. John Edward was born in Worthenbury, Flintshire, in 1881.

There are a couple of possible boarders and lodgers in the 1901 census that might fit John but cannot be certain.

14 Third Generation 10. Edward Warburton (Samuel2, James1). Edward was born in Shocklach, Cheshire, in 1858. He was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 6 Jun 1858. ■ Census for Stretton, Cheshire, in 1881. Edward (23) is an agricultural labourer living in Wittrens Lane with Ann (23), Emma (5), Ellen (4), Alice (2), and Jane (1 month). ■ Census for Shocklach, Cheshire, in 1891. Edwerd (sic), aged 32, is an agricultural labourer, living with Jane (33), Alice (12), Jane (10), Samuel (7), Edwin (4), and Arthur (1). ■ Census for Dutton Diffeth, Denbighshire, in 1901. Edward (42) is a Farm Bailiff, living at Lower Hall with Jane (43), Alice (22), Edwin (14) a cattleman, Joseph (11), Hannah (9), George (4), and Ethel (1).

On 6 Apr 1875 when Edward was 17, he married Jane Allen in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire. According to C BMD reference CE48/1/127 the wedding was at Tilston St. Mary. Jane was born in Carden, Tilston, Cheshire, abt 1857.

They had the following children: i. Emma Warburton. Emma was born in Tilston, Cheshire, abt 1875. ii. Ellen Warburton. Ellen was born in Tilston, Cheshire, abt 1876. iii. Alice Warburton. She was christened in Carden, Tilston, Cheshire, abt 1878. iv. Jane Warburton. Jane was born in Tilston, Cheshire, in 1881. v. Samuel Warburton. Samuel was born in Tilston, Cheshire, abt 1883. He was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 28 Oct 1892.

Either this was a late baptism, or the first died and another was named. vi. Edwin Warburton. Edwin was born in Castletown, Shocklach, Cheshire, abt 1886. He was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 28 Oct 1892. vii. Arthur (or Joseph) Warburton. Arthur (or Joseph) was born in Castletown, Shocklach, Cheshire, abt 1889.

On the 1891 census son Arthur is one year old, but there is no Joseph. By 1901 Arthur is missing but Joseph is 11. They may be the same person. viii. Hannah Warburton. Hannah was born in Castletown, Shocklach, Cheshire, abt 1891. She was christened in Shocklach, St Edith, Cheshire, on 28 Oct 1892. ix. George Warburton.
