It was one of the scariest moments of my life, but once Dr. Lorenzo Ferri and his team took charge, fear subsided. From the very first day, their high level of dedication and competence created a sense of calm.

It felt like looking after patients like me is what they were meant to do. It was personal, it was real, it was effective and it contributed enormously to the healing process. 2019‑2020 ANNUAL REPORT 31 THANK YOU TO OUR DONORS

We cannot look back on our accomplishments from the past year without acknowledging the essential contributions of our more than 7,000 donors. Whether you made a monthly or a one‑time donation, whether you are a long‑standing member of the Governors’ Circle or have just made your first contribution, know that you have made a vital difference. Your support enables us to give our community the top‑quality care it deserves and allows our medical teams to think outside the box as they find new ways to diagnose and treat their patients. To show our appreciation, we invited all our Governors – donors who contributed $250 or more in the past year – to a special event in June 2019. During this luncheon event, they enjoyed a conversation between Dr. Pierre Gfeller, President and Executive Director of the McGill University Health Centre, and Dr. Kevin Smith, President and CEO of the University Health Network (UHN) in Toronto, Canada’s largest academic health sciences centre. For more information about our Governors recognition program, visit codelife.ca/governors.

“In early March 2020, I made a major donation to three hospital foundations, including the Montreal General Hospital Foundation. The primary reason behind this gesture was to demonstrate to the health care workers of Quebec, the doctors, the nurses and support staff, that the public has their back in our battle against COVID-19. I wanted them to know that we will do all in our power to ensure that they have the tools to do the job we know they so desperately want to do properly.”

"Satoko and I believe in doing our part to improve the wellbeing of our community, which is why we have been proud Governors of the Montreal General Hospital for over 20 years. It is with great pleasure that we've supported nursing initiatives, as well as fellowships for Japanese students, with the hope that our donations will facilitate innovation, the advancement of knowledge and better patient care."
