LIVESTOCK SECTION Exhibitors are required to comply with current TB regulations. For those cattle coming from one and two year testing parishes please note it is a requirement that the animals at the show are tested within 60 days before this show. Compliance with pre-movement testing requirements is the responsibility of the owner/cattle keeper moving the animal(s). Full details can be found on the DEFRA website as follows: http://www.defra.gov.uk/animal-diseases/files/tb-infonote-1202-pre-movement.pdf All Cattle and Sheep must be at the Exhibition Hall by 9.30 a.m. for weighing. Judging will commence at 10.00 a.m. with the Championship being judged at 2.15 p.m. Cattle and Sheep should not be removed until 4.00 p.m. The Wadebridge Prime Stock Show Association are extremely grateful to the sponsors in the Cattle and Sheep section for their generous sponsorship of approximately half of the prize money in each class, with the balance coming from the Show's funds. Sponsored by Toad Hall Cottages CATTLE CLASSES – YOUNG BEEF SECTION Judge:- Miss Gayle Bersey Sponsored by Wadebridge Cattle Market Ltd Entry fee £2 Prizes: 1st £20, 2nd £14, 3rd £10, 4th £6 14 Bull born on or after 1 January 2018 - Any Pure Breed British Native Origin. 15 Bull born on or after 1 January 2018 - Any Pure Breed Continental Origin 16 Heifer born on or after 1 December 2017 – Any Pure Breed British Native Origin. 17 Heifer born on or after 1 December 2017 – Any Pure Breed Continental Origin. The animals in Classes 14 - 17 have to be registered with their relevant breed society. There will be a champion of this section which will go forward to the overall championship. These animals are not to be entered in Classes 1 – 13. These animals will be judged at the end of the other classes. (i) If eight or more entries in any one class, the Committee reserve the right to divide the class by weight. (ii) All cattle to be weighed and weight displayed. (iii) The fourth prize only awarded if there are six or more entries. BEEF YOUNG HANDLER- these classes will be judged at approx. 1 pm. Prizes: 1st £12, 2nd £8, 3rd £5 18 Beef Calf – handler aged up to and including 12 years of age. 19 Beef Calf – handler aged 13 – 16 years of age. The calves must be suitable for the age of the handler. The classes to be judged on the ability of the handler and the presentation of the calf but not on the conformation of the calf. Exhibitors to be capable of handling the stock themselves. Prizes: 1st £10, 2nd £5, 3rd £3 32 Handler aged up to and including 12 years of age. 33 Handler aged 13 – 16 years of age. 34 ‘Have a go!!!’ – handler aged up to 16 years of age. The classes to be judged on the ability of the handler and the presentation of the lamb but not on the conformation of the lamb. Exhibitors to be capable of handling the stock themselves. No adults to be allowed in the ring during judging, except under exceptional circumstances. YFC BEEF LIVE JUDGING Judge: Mr R Brewer (Ed Harris will be taking entries on the day if not entered before). 35 Open to YFC Members who must be 26 years of age or under on 1st September 2018. Competitors must provide themselves with white coats, which must be worn during the period of the competition. Procedure – Place a group of 4 cattle in order of merit and give reasons for those placings. The animals will be designated A,B,X,Y. Competitors may handle the live cattle but only in such a way that they do not cause bruising. Excessive handling after a caution from the stewards will result in disqualification. Up to 2 minutes will be allowed for each competitor to give his or her reason to the Judge. Competitors should be comparative rather than descriptive when stating their reasons. 2 marks will be deducted for each 15 seconds (or part thereof) that a competitor goes over the allotted 2 minutes. The marks will be deducted from the competitor’s total. 10 minutes judging – handling allowed. At least 5 minutes – preparing cards for handing to stewards. Scale of marks:- Placings – 100 / Reasons: Accuracy of observations – 25 / Comparison – 15 / Style (including presentation of competitor – 10.
