891 THE ENTRANCE CHANNEL DREDGING MR to move— That this House: (1) Notes Central Coast Council was provided with funding in 2018 to dredge The Entrance Channel. (2) Notes the dredging ended before all scheduled dredging was completed. (3) Notes there is now a large build-up of sand in the channel. (4) Considers the build-up of sand has increased the risk of flooding around Tuggerah Lake. (5) Urges the Minister for Water to pay attention to this issue. (6) Calls on the Government to immediately provide funding to the council so it can undertake further dredging of the channel to reduce flood risk.

893 NEWCASTLE EAST PUBLIC SCHOOL - FRIABLE ASBESTOS MR to move— That this House: (1) Notes in September 2017, the Member for Newcastle highlighted the poor condition of the asbestos roof at Newcastle East Public School with the former Minister for Education. (2) Notes the Member for Newcastle was advised by the Minister for Education at Budget Estimates in 2019 that there was no friable asbestos present at Newcastle East Public School. (3) Notes friable asbestos was detected in classrooms at Newcastle East Public School on 19 December 2019, and parents were not informed of this development until 29 January 2020. (3) Notes all male dormitories are permanent, well-maintained buildings with adequate cooling and heating. (4) Calls on the Government to immediately build permanent girls dormitoires to ensure male and female students have an equal standard of accommodation.

899 DISASTER RESPONSE LEGAL SERVICE NSW MR KEVIN CONOLLY to move— That this House: (1) Notes thousands of New South Wales residents impacted by the devastating bushfires will be offered free legal help with the launch of the Disaster Response Legal Service NSW. (2) Recognises Legal Aid NSW, Community Legal Centres, JusticeConnect, the Law Society of NSW, and the NSW Bar Association have teamed up to operate the service, which will be available via the Legal Aid helpline. 902 BUSHFIRE PREVENTION AND INVESTMENT MS to move— That this House: (1) Recognises New South Wales headed into the recent bushfire season, under resourced, under- staffed, and vulnerable. (2) Notes the commencement of the next bushfire season is now less than seven months away. (3) Demands action be taken to ensure firefighting agencies are adequately resourced in preparation for the commencement of the next fire season. (4) Calls on the Minister for Emergency Services to urgently reverse all cuts to firefighting capacity, employ the 300 Fire and Rescue NSW Firefighters that are required, invest in recruitment, training and upskilling for all firefighting initiatives, invest where necessary to ensure better preparedness for the 2020-2021 bushfire season, so emergency services personnel are not burdened as they have been over the last five months.

913 PRESCHOOL INVESTMENT MS JODIE HARRISON to move— That this House: (1) Notes the Report on Government Services on Early Childhood Education and Care published on 4 February 2020 reveals that New South Wales has the highest number of preschool aged children, but the lowest percentage of them in a preschool program out of all of the states and territories. (2) Notes young children who do not experience a quality early learning program are more likely to start school developmentally behind their peers. (3) Notes the Government has failed to honour its promise made in 2016 to provide universal access to affordable early childhood learning programs for every child in New South Wales. (4) Calls upon the Government to act on preschool learning for all children and their families.

(2) Requests the Government stop these proposed reductions and instead roll out the 284 nurses and midwives, 32 doctors, 38 allied health staff and 50 hospital support workers across the NRLHD, that it promised in February 2019.

(3) Recognises the unfair burden on farmers to pay entirely for fence repairs and maintenance on properties that border crown lands, forestry or national parks, when neighbours would otherwise share costs. (3) Commends the Government for ensuring that displaced apprentices will not be disadvantaged, by allowing them to continue to access the training component of their apprenticeships for up to 12 months for free while seeking new employers. 959 REGIONAL SENIORS TRAVEL CARD ROLLOUT MS to move— That this House: (1) Notes the complete failure of the Regional Seniors Travel Card rollout. (2) Notes the scheme has left a significant amount of eligible seniors unable to apply via the Service NSW website, and as a result, call wait times have ballooned out to over two hours. (3) Notes veterans were initially excluded from the scheme until public outcry forced the Government to expand the scheme to incorporate veterans and war widows. (4) Notes the Government refuses to extend the scheme to include seniors on a disability pension or carers payment. (5) Expresses its disappointment that the Government will not support some of the most vulnerable seniors in regional communities.

963 REGIONAL SENIORS TRAVEL CARD MS to move— That this House: (1) Notes the eligibility for the Nationals Regional Seniors Travel Card leaves vulnerable seniors, including those on a Disability Support Pension or Carers' Pension, without the $250 they were promised during the 2019 State Election campaign.

(2) Notes seniors face some of the biggest barriers to accessing transport in regional areas and their exclusion is insulting and unfair.

(3) Condemns the Nationals for misleading seniors about eligibility criteria for a travel card.

(4) Calls on the Minister for Regional Transport and Roads to expand the criteria for the scheme to include vulnerable seniors with a disability and carers.
