  • Null: 2005 Chrysler Brand (Outside North America)
Contact: Michele Callender Ariel Gavilan Chrysler Heritage (Outside North America) Press kit translations are available in pdf format to the right under "Attached Documents." February 28, 2005, Auburn Hills, Mich. - The year 2004 was a landmark year for the Chrysler brand, with a fantastic display of new vehicles, model improvements and growing quality and technological prowess. In the year that marked the Chrysler brand’s 80th anniversary, the brand introduced seven new or refreshed models to markets outside of North America. Chrysler has repeatedly introduced unconventional vehicles and engineering innovations. Those innovations range from the Chrysler Six, which in 1924 redefined what a passenger car should be, to cab-forward designs and segment- defining MPVs that helped crystallise the brand’s image in the 1990s, to exciting current products like the Chrysler 300C Sedan, Touring and SRT8. The influence of the Chrysler brand’s past upon its future manifests itself in every new Chrysler product. Chrysler Brand Historical Highlights 1924: Walter P. Chrysler introduces the 1924 Chrysler Six — one of the most advanced and exciting cars of its day. The Chrysler Six is a quality light car — power in a small package — something no other brand is offering at the time. The vehicle makes maximum use of a high-speed, high-compression engine with incredible power and small displacement — along with other features such as hydraulic brakes. This becomes the first modern automobile at a very moderate price — a revolutionary concept in its day. 1925-1933: Chrysler broadens the model line to four separate series. Imperial emerges as a top-level luxury/performance car.

  • 2005 CHRYSLER 300 TOURING with Its New Sedan Designed to Replace
2005 CHRYSLER 300 TOURING With its new sedan designed to replace the Chrysler Concorde and 300M, DaimlerChrysler (DCX) has taken a 180-degree turn, replacing front-wheel by rear-wheel drive (and making all-wheel drive available, too). The big sedan is available in Base, Touring, Limited, and 300C models. The 300C boasts a 5.7-litre, 340-horsepower Hemi V8, while the other versions feature a 3.5-litre, 250-horsepower V6 engine. The new 300 is shorter, slightly narrower, and higher than the old models, and its wheelbase is 17.8 cm longer. The Chrysler 300 shares about 20% of its parts, by value, with the Mercedes C and E- Classes, including the steering column and front seat frames. The rear suspension has been adapted from the E-Class, but the spring and shock absorber adjustments are by Chrysler. Interior and trunk Getting in and out of the 300 model is a breeze, and the front seats boast superior comfort with good lateral and lumbar support. The driver’s seat offers very good comfort and control. Finding just the right position is easy with the tilt and telescopic steering column and power adjustable pedals. Unfortunately, the pedals can be adjusted while the vehicle is moving, which is not very safe. With the sunroof, there’s only just enough headroom for taller people. Despite the size of the 300, the rear seat can only comfortably accommodate two adults. And while there is plenty of legroom, taller passengers may complain that headroom is a little tight. The rear seat is 60/40 split folding.

  • Chrysler Group Celebrates 20 Years of Modern Concept Vehicles
Contact: Ashley Kahael Sam Locricchio Chrysler Group Celebrates 20 Years of Modern Concept Vehicles Chrysler Group’s design tradition has become a key strength of the company More than 100 concept vehicles have been developed since 1988 Chrysler Nassau, Jeep® Trailhawk and Dodge Demon are the most recent concepts May 24, 2007, Auburn Hills, Mich. - “Concept to reality” has become a term that epitomizes the Chrysler Group design philosophy, and many observers are hoping that it will apply to the company’s concept vehicles for 2007. Chrysler Group’s latest concept vehicles clearly demonstrate a design tradition that has become a key strength of the company: an ability to design the coolest-of-cool concepts, which are as relevant as they are innovative. This approach started with the Frankfurt Motor Show reveal of the Lamborghini-engined, cab forward-styled, four-door Chrysler Portofino concept sedan in 1987. Almost 20 years and more than 100 concepts later, this continuous development has helped Chrysler Group reinvent and maintain its reputation as a car company driven by design and engineering. Concept vehicles have two major roles for the Chrysler Group: they showcase to management, the media and the public the potential future design direction for Chrysler Group cars and trucks, and they help to attract the best young designers in the world into its design studios. Chrysler Group’s concept vehicle program allows designers to test new colors, features, vehicle size and segments. Concepts can also be showcases for new design cues, which often find their way into production on future vehicles – even if the entire concept vehicle does not.
