The Holy Name Of St. Alphonsus earnestly recommends both these devoons. St. Frances of Rome enjoyed the extraordinary privilege of Jesus. constantly seeing and speaking to her Angel Guardian. She so loved the Name of Jesus that she actually wrote it with a hot iron on her breast. Blessed had done the same with a pointed steel rod.

We may not aspire to this holy daring; we may with reason lack the courage of inscribing the Holy Name on our breast. This needs a special inspiraon from God. But we may follow the example of another dear Saint, Blessed Catherine of Racconigi, a daughter of St. Dominic, who repeated frequently and lovingly, the Name of Jesus, so that aer her death, the Name of Jesus was found engraved in leers of gold on her heart. We all can do as she did, and thus the Name of Jesus will be emblazoned on our souls for all Eternity in the sight of the Saints and Angels in Heaven.

MONTHLY CATHOLIC DEVOTIONS:

FEBRUARY IS THE MONTH OF THE HOLY FAMILY

In January, the celebrated the Month of the Holy Name of Jesus and in February, we turn to the enre Holy Family—Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Special The special devoon which proposes the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph as the model of virtue of all Chrisan households began in the 17th Mass for century. It started almost in France – the Associaon of the Holy Family was founded by the Deceased Daughters of the Holy Family in Paris in 1674. This devoon soon spread and in 1893 Pope Leo XIII expressed his approval of a feast under Parents this tle and himself composed part of the Office. On account of the flight into Egypt this feast has been observed by the Copts from early mes. February 22nd at 7pm The feast was welcomed by succeeding Ponffs as an efficacious means for bringing home to the Chrisan people the example of the Holy Family at Nazareth and by the restoraon of the true spirit of family life, stemming, in some measure, the evils of present-day society. In our Dominican Tradion, each February we celebrate In the words of His Holiness Pope Leo XIII, “Nothing truly can be more salutary or efficacious a Mass for all our deceased for Chrisan families to meditate upon than the example of this Holy Family, which parents in our Dominican embraces the perfecon and completeness of all domesc virtues.” Family.
