The Compiler of the following Sheets, has col- lected, from actual survey, as many of the Names, Designations, and Places of Business, of the Mer- chants, Grocers, Traders, Shipmasters, and Ma- riners, &c. in Greenock and Port-Glasgow, as he thought necessary to be put in this Edition ; but as omissions and mistakes are unavoidable, as re- movals are so often taking place betwixt the terms; and it being the Second Edition in this place, he humbly requests the indulgence of the Public, for any errors that may appear, as he hopes if encour- aged, to have the third more useful than the pre- sent, by having in it some additions that will be very useful for the Public.
