Thursday Classes

TH1- ¼” Americana Scene by Sally Manwell Class Fee: $69

The scene contains a window frame, bird house, stool, chair, table, flowers, a scale, flower containers, a small tree and two little bears. Students will add a roof to the laser cut bird house, construct the furniture, and paint them. Then make the flowers and the containers from linen material and metal. Learn to drape the fabric over the chair and put together the tree, bears and the scale. Put all the pieces together for your Americana scene. Minimum Skill Level: Beginner ¼” Scale

TH2-Making Apple Pie by Carolyn McVicker Class Fee $89

Come enjoy the wonderful smells of making pie dough, sliced apples, nutmeg, cinnamon, and butter while making a delicious apple pie made with Granny Smith apples grown in the cool crisp air of the mountains near Winchester, Virginia, the apple capital of the U.S., however someone from the Northwest U.S. may want to dispute that title with Virginia. TH3-Magical Sea Cake by Elizabeth Murta Class Fee: $124

I will teach how to work with cold porcelain, how to make a silicone molds and how to dye the clay. We are going to make a beautiful sea cake full of details. You will complete making the cake in the class. Minimum Skill Level: Beginner 1” Scale

TH4-Sailor for Boy or Sailor for Girl by Rachelle Spiegel Class Fee: $59

The sailor suit became a sudden and long-lasting for children in America during the 1880’s and swept through the country. The fashion lasted well into the 20th century and beyond, becoming more detailed and elaborate. Create your choice of a sailor suit or dress with matching for display in a one-inch setting. You will learn to accurately cut a miniature pattern without using pins, set sleeves, use a mini pleater and drape the for a realistic appearance. You will also construct your choice of a brimmed faux straw hat or a modern sailor’s . Please bring magnification and additional light along with an extension cord if you will need them. TH5-Jewelry Box with Display Jewelry by Deb Laue Class Fee: $64

Assemble then fill a 1" scale jewelry box with opening drawer. You will create a wide variety of display jewelry pieces that can be used to fill a vanity , display case , or jewelry shop. Class will include a wide variety of rhinestones and findings for you to create with along with display stands for , bracelets, and . Minimum Skill Level: Beginner 1” Scale

TH6-Oxalis and Spanish Eyes Vine by Charrita Teague Class Fee: $39

Students will have a choice of metal planters to choose from to create this arrangement of Oxalis and Spanish Eyes Vine. It will accent any structure/garden scene. Students will receive a jig to make the Spanish Eyes flowers. Minimum Skill Level: Beginner 1” or ¼” Scale

TH7-A Day at the Shore by Joan Purcell Class Fee: $94

Students will dress a small boy in a 1900’s style knee britches, and a sailor style , with side button . A small bucket of seashells will be included. Minimum Skill Level: All Levels 1” Scale

TH8-Granny Crocheting Afghan by Fern Vasi Class Fee: $139

This charming little lady will fit in your miniature scene! You will learn to dress and wig her in a very short time. Your complete lady comes with her earrings and lace trim, a half- crocheted afghan with a ball of “yarn” and a crochet needle. Seated in a wooden rocker, she is perfect for the parlor or on the front porch. Valued at $395. Minimum Skill Level: Beginner 1” Scale

Friday Classes

F1-Silver Chest by Shannon Moore Class Fee: $79

This silver chest is a piece that can be used in several different time periods. Originally it was meant to hold the family’s small silver pieces, especially cutlery. Today it could easily be used as a lamp table or nightstand. The set of four drawers rests upon tapered legs. The drawers are faced with makore wood while the rest of the piece is made from cherry. The parts will be pre-cut and class time will be used to assemble the drawers along with the remainder of the piece. Approximate size: 1 7/8” W x 1 ½” D x 2 5/8” H Minimum Skill Level: Intermediate 1” Scale

F2-Nautical Themed Wind Vanes by Pete Boorum Class Fee: $74

Wind vanes and parts of them are prized antiques in this century but back in the day, they were indications of the weather – present or future. If you lived near salt water, wind vanes most often reflected that. We will be making the patterns out of sheet brass. You will use a jeweler saw with a very fine blade along with a bench pin to support your work. We will start with the simplest, the whale, then progress to the swordfish and finally the sailing ship will be a bit more challenging, but all are lots of fun. A patina finish will be added since they would show evidence of weather and salt air. The bases for display will be provided. Minimum Skill Level: Beginner 1” Scale

F3-Yankee Doodle by Karen Benson Class Fee: $99

Yankee Doodle & New England go hand-in-hand. Your options are endless for Yankee Doodle, it can be finished as an Americana themed gift shop or filled with New England antiques. The porch on Yankee Doodle is designed wider (1 ½”) so there is enough room for two rockers & crates (included) as shown plus much more décor. The Eagle decorations are metal & add extra detail & dimension to the sign & front. The workshop includes everything shown & I provide all of the paint & glues to complete the project as shown. Friday Classes

F4-Ocean Treasures by Sally Manwell Class Fee: $94

Students will construct a cavern housing a forgotten treasure, surrounded with rocks, shells, coral and plants. They will paint the plastic plants to give them a more realistic look. Make an octopus out of fimo, create a jellyfish out of plastic and make barnacles on an anchor behind the cavern. Then combine all of these into an underwater scene with a mermaid in a plastic container. Size: 4.5” x 3” x 3” Minimum Skill Level: Beginner ¼” Scale

F5-1/2” Wicker Settee by Sue Ann Ketchum Class Fee: $64

Have you ever wanted to learn to weave a piece of wicker furniture? This is a great basic class for learning techniques for an adorable white wicker settee. Complete as shown A variety of fabrics will be available for the bench and pillows for you to choose from. Minimum Skill Level: Beginner ½ ” Scale

F6-The Lighthouse by Ginger Landon-Siegel Class Fee: $59

Create a special memory of your trip to Rhode Island, home to 21 fully active lighthouses, each with its own unique characteristics. This lighthouse scene, which you can choose to make in a wearable pocket or inside a round container for display, captures the beauty that surrounds these majestic structures. This particular lighthouse scene, complete with the softly lit house, beach area and canoe will be brought to life as you begin to embellish your scene. You will learn dimensional cutting and layering techniques, and with the addition of various kinds of rocks, sand, greenery, threads, foils and wood, you will further enhance the lighthouse and surrounding landscape An easel is included with the class, appropriately sized for either the or the container piece.
