Can’t Wait to Get on the Road Again Spring is bringing a host of new opportunities in 2021. Perhaps one of the largest is the return of our beloved outings! Of course, they’ll look a little different than they did before. With precautions like masks and social distancing still in place, our first priority is the safety of our residents. Because of this, groups will be smaller. However, this is an important first step toward getting back into the community and shaking off the cabin fever that has set in since March of last year. See Sara for more details. Space is limited, and the sign-up sheets for each trip will be available at the Activities Desk. Space is first come, first served, It’s amazing how much a compliment and residents on the waiting list will have priority for the next outing. can boost your mood and make you feel good all day long. Picking Up the Pace Walking. We do it every day, in every way. We walk to the car, to the fridge, to the store, down the street. We walk and walk, and walk some more. Typically, walking has a destination, a purpose. But what if it didn’t? What if we walked, just to walk? To stretch our legs and feel the joy of our legs taking us wherever they can? Especially in spring, we face an excess of energy brought on by the warmer weather. It feels like we have to move! So that’s exactly what we’ll do. We invite residents to join us as we walk. It could be down the halls, around the building or just to the elevator. The purpose is to take that first step and then another. If it feels too daunting to walk alone, take a peek at our calendar for a list of times for Walking Club. Just like with exercise, sometimes the community aspect of a walk is exactly what we need. It’s important to remember to wear proper footwear while walking. Sturdy, well-fitting shoes are best, ones with a good tread. This helps to prevent accidental falls and keeps us from hurting our feet because the shoes are too tight or too loose.
