METRIC I PUMPEHUSET 29. OKTOBER Indie-rock-bandet METRIC annoncerer Europa-tour, hvor de stopper forbi Pumpehuset. Samtidig offentliggør bandet, hvis lyd trækker inspiration fra acts som Depeche Mode, New Order, The Cure og Underworld, deres nye sang ”Dark Saturday” som er ude overalt. “Dark Saturday” er den første single fra METRICs kommende fuld-længde album, som bliver udgivet 21. september. “This is our seventh album as a band”, siger den ikoniske frontkvinde Emily Haines, “and we wanted the first song people heard from it to be “Dark Saturday” as a sonic heads up that our guitars are back in force. Lyrically, the song depicts a dystopian night life scene of gaudy wealth where oblivious party girls say nauseating things like, “I’m so rich everything’s free.” Det er det første ud af tre albums guitarist Jimmy Shaw ikke har co- produceret. I stedet blev producer-hatten givet videre til Justin Meldal- Johnsen, som bandet arbejder sammen med for første gang. Justin Meldal- Johnsen har blandt andet arbejdet sammen med M83, Beck og Nine Inch Nails, m.fl. Albummet, som er indspillet i METRICs eget Giant Studio i Toronto, blev også mixet af en anden førstegangskollaboratør, Tony Hoffer, som har været krediteret utallige gange, bl.a. på Phoenix, Depeche Mode og Airs udgivelser. Musikvideoen til ”Dark Saturday”, som er instrueret af METRICs mangeårige kollaboratør, Justin Broadbent, er også ude nu. Efter den havde præmiere i Rolling Stone, NME og hos andre store internationale mediepartnere er videoen endelig tilgængelig for alle her. Selvom der hverken er blevet offentliggjort titel, artwork eller tracklisting, har bandet alligevel lanceret en kampagne på deres hjemmeside med forskellige pakkeløsninger der er tilgængelige til forudbestilling. Fans som forudbestiller tidligt modtager en signeret limited edition ”Dark Fantasy” 7- tommer flexi-disc vinyl med deres køb, uden ekstra omkostninger i en begrænset periode, så længe lager haves. Alle forudbestillinger kommer med en download af ”Dark Saturday” og bliver afsendt enten på, eller lige før, release-dagen. Minimum to yderligere sange kan downloades før dette. The NME ran a two page feature on The Fratellis in the August 10, 2006 issue, proclaiming them "the best new band in Britain". "Creepin' Up The Backstairs" was never a single released by the band, even though a video was made for it. It was not eligible for the charts. The first single released by the band was "Henrietta", which was released on June 12 2006 and charted at number 19 on the UK Charts.
