ONLY WA SHOW FOR AN EVENING ON THE GREEN CONTINUES 10th ANNIVERSARY SEASON KINGS PARK & BOTANIC GARDEN – Saturday November 27 Australia’s favourite winery concert series continues its 10th anniversary season with Aussie icon John Farnham set to play his first a day on the green events. Farnham will perform three a day on the green shows nationally and indoor theatres as part of the John Farnham Live! tour through October/November. The legendary performer will play his only WA concert for an evening on the green at Kings Park & Botanic Garden on Saturday November 27. Announcing the tour today John said: “I love doing outdoor shows and the vineyards around Australia are such beautiful venues to perform at.” For a man who has sold more tickets, more albums and notched up more achievements than any other Australian musician, performing live is still an absolute joy. This next round of shows continues Farnham’s ever-evolving musical life, which these days remains in balance with his time away from centre stage. The concerts will once again feature Farnham’s long-time and hugely acclaimed band, featuring Chong Lim (musical director), Angus Burchell (drums), Stuart Fraser (guitar), Brett Garsed (guitar), Steve Williams (saxophone, harp), Bob Coassin (trumpet), Craig Newman (bass), Lindsay Field (backing vocals), Lisa Edwards (backing vocals) and Dannielle Gaha (backing vocals). Together they will work through Farnham’s phenomenal songbook, giving audiences the chance to once again see this consummate singer and entertainer in full flight. These select shows will also give Farnham fans an exclusive sneak preview of some brand new songs that he is currently recording for his new album. Whilst Farnham’s achievements are far too many to document, perhaps these two require acknowledgement. On record, ‘Whispering Jack’ remains Australia’s highest selling album by a domestic artist ever and on stage, Farnham has performed a staggering total of 164 concerts at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena and the Sydney Entertainment Centre – a feat unlikely to ever be topped. Joining John will be another Aussie rock legend RICHARD CLAPTON. Clapton has endeared himself to music-lovers everywhere through his heartfelt inspired performances and brilliant songs. He has mastered that most difficult of achievements - the highwire balance of radio-friendly tunes and candid, from-the-heart lyrics. With songs like ‘Girls On The Avenue’, ‘Deep Water’ and ‘Capricorn Dancer’ and his landmark albums like ‘Goodbye Tiger’, he has stamped his place as one of Australia’s very best singer/songwriters. The July 16 release of ROSS WILSON’s 15th studio album “I Come In Peace” is a testament to his longevity and his ability to keep producing music that is as relevant in 2010 as it was 1964 when it all began. Recorded in Nashville & Melbourne, “I Come In Peace” is Wilson’s first new album in eight years and features 11 new songs that have his sublime song-writing touch all over them. Yet another new venue, and, from all reports the best yet. On a sad note, we recently lost one of our Shadoz friends, Don Hill. Don played drums for Harry's Webb and The Vikings last year, and was one of the 'stalwarts' of Shadoz in recent times. R.I.P. Don. TONY KIEK (Keyboards) and GEORGE LEWIS (Guitar) were fresh from a tour of the UK, where they appeared at a number of Shadows clubs. They were gracious enough to help out by filling the 'dreaded' opening spot. Their set was a wonderful introduction to the day, and they featured some great sounds with WONDERFUL LAND / FANDANGO (with WALTZING MATILDA intro) / DANCES WITH WOLVES / THING-ME-JIG / RODRIGO'S CONCERTO / GOING HOME (THEME FROM 'LOCAL HERO') / THE SAVAGE / SPRING IS NEARLY HERE Whilst Tony and George travelled down from Sydney, no less a feat were the next band, who have travelled from overseas – Phillip Island! - ROB WATSON (Bass) was formerly with Melbourne group "The Avengers", TONY MERCER (Lead Guitar) also played with various Melbourne groups before "retiring" to the island and forming "SHAZAM", MIKE McCABE (Rhythm) worked in England in the 60's with "Hardtack", MARTY SAUNDERS (Drums) played with the popular showband "Out To Lunch" amongst others, and JEFF CULLEN (Lead vocals and rhythm guitar) sang with The Aztecs in Sydney before Billy Thorpe, then with The Rat Finks. A nice mix of Shads and non-Shads numbers included ADVENTURES IN PARADISE / MAN OF MYSTERY / ATLANTIS / THE CRUEL SEA / THE RISE AND FALL OF FLINGEL BUNT / GENIE WITH THE LIGHT BROWN LAMP / IT'S A MAN'S WORLD / THE SAVAGE / CINCINNATTI FIREBALL (voc) / LOVE POTION NO.9 (voc) / THE WANDERER (voc) / THE STRANGER / WALK DON'T RUN One of the joys of "Shadoz" is the ability to welcome newcomers to our shindig.
