SIKKIM UNIVERSITY invites applications from Indian citizens for the following posts on contract/temporary basis for its project on SIKKIM’S ENDANGERED LANGUAGE DOCUMENTATION PROJECT (SELDP) funded by the NORTH EASTERN COUNCIL (NEC). The duration of the posts is for 12 months, to be renewed every 12 months on the basis of performance. The posts are co-terminus with the project and the University shall have no liability towards the incumbents in the event of the NEC closing down the project at any time.

Desirable: Final year of Ph.D submission in Linguistics with specialisation in Tibeto-Burman morphology/ syntax.

Research experience in language documentation and archival system.

Able to conduct fieldwork with communities in Sikkim and speak Nepali/Hindi.

Desirable: A Ph.D Degree in Computer Science/Applications with specialisation in natural language data processing.

Be able to carry out other responsibilities as assigned by the Projector Investigator.

3 OFFICE Rs. 39,531/- Essential: Walk-in- 1 ASSISTANT p.m. Good academic record with at interview CUM (Consolidated) least 45% marks of equivalent DOCUMENTATI grade where grading system is Or ON OFFICER practised at the Bachelor’s degree level in Library Science V i d e o or Commerce from an Indian Conference University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.

Able to run accounts, office management and document processing tools and programs.

Able to compile and draft reports.

Desirable: Able to conduct linguistic and/or audio-video data collection through fieldwork with communities in Sikkim.

Able to work on computer related processes of language documentation.

Able to conduct linguistic and/or audio-video data collection through fieldwork with communities in Sikkim.

Desirable: To transcribe linguistic data.

Be able to carry out other responsibilities as assigned by the Projector Investigator.

Application Procedure: The candidates applying for the above mentioned posts need to download the prescribed format from the Sikkim University portal www.cus.ac.in

The application in the prescribed format may be submitted as an attachment at [email protected] with subject - SELDP- [name of the post applied for] on or before 28 September 2020.

Hard copy of the documents submitted will be verified at the time of joining.

Registration for walk-in interview/interaction and/or video conference will be conducted at 10 am, 30 September 2020 at the Centre for Endangered Languages, Rita Thapa Building, Near Orange Village Resort, 7th Mile, Sikkim University. Any changes regarding the interview and walk-in- interaction schedule will be informed in the website.

General Instructions: 1. Applications received after the closing date or incomplete in any respect will not be considered. 2. Application fee of Rs. 500/- will have to be paid either as demand draft in favour of Sikkim University for posts in Sr. No. 1, 2 and 3. The candidates applying for the post of Native Speaker-Resource Persons need not pay the application fees. 3. The University reserves the right to: (a) Draw reserve panel(s) against the possible vacancies in the future. (b) Relax any of the qualifications/experience at its discretion; and (c) Not fill up any or all the advertised posts. 4. Persons already in service have to produce No Objection Certificate at the time of interview. 5. Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification of the candidate concerned. 6. Candidates merely appearing in Interaction will not confer any right on the candidates for selection. 7.
