Town Tree Cover in Bridgend County Borough
1 Town Tree Cover in Bridgend County Borough Understanding canopy cover to better plan and manage our urban trees 2 Foreword Introducing a world-first for Wales is a great pleasure, particularly as it relates to greater knowledge about the hugely valuable woodland and tree resource in our towns and cities. We are the first country in the world to have undertaken a country-wide urban canopy cover survey. The resulting evidence base set out in this supplementary county specific study for Bridgend County Borough will help all of us - from community tree interest groups to urban planners and decision-makers in local Emyr Roberts Diane McCrea authorities and our national government - to understand what we need to do to safeguard this powerful and versatile natural asset. Trees are an essential component of our urban ecosystems, delivering a range of services to help sustain life, promote well-being, and support economic benefits. They make our towns and cities more attractive to live in - encouraging inward investment, improving the energy efficiency of buildings – as well as removing air borne pollutants and connecting people with nature. They can also mitigate the extremes of climate change, helping to reduce storm water run-off and the urban heat island. Natural Resources Wales is committed to working with colleagues in the Welsh Government and in public, third and private sector organisations throughout Wales, to build on this work and promote a strategic approach to managing our existing urban trees, and to planting more where they will -

V1.1 Page 1 of 4 Bridgend County Borough Council Lateral Flow Test
V1.1 Bridgend County Borough Council Lateral flow test (LFT) guidance for pupils 1. Introduction 1.1 Welsh Government is offering pupils in years 7 to 13 the opportunity to undergo twice-weekly testing using a LFT device. 1.2 While this testing is on a voluntary basis, all pupils offered the opportunity are strongly encouraged to take up the offer to further reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19. 1.3 The test is a fast and simple way to test individuals who do not have symptoms of COVID-19, but who may still be spreading the virus. 2. Pupils included 2.1 All pupils in years 7 to 13 are offered the opportunity to have twice-weekly testing. 2.2 If you do not wish to participate in the testing, you are still able to attend your school or setting providing you have not come into contact with a positive case, developed symptoms or received a positive COVID-19 test result that you may have had independently. 2.3 Always follow the usual national guidelines on self-isolation and arrange a test if you show symptoms of COVID-19. 3. Supplies of tests 3.1 Before receiving your testing kits, you need to read the privacy notice, testing instructions, video and waste instructions. 3.2 Tests will be provided to you from your school. 3.3 When you only have only a week’s supply (2 tests) left you should request more from your school. 3.4 Your school will record the number of tests it provides to you to ensure that tests are being completed as agreed. -

Rural Bridgend 2007-2014
Rural Bridgend 2007-2014 A celebration of Bridgend’s rural people, communities and enterprises Projects supported by reach - the Rural Development Programme for Bridgend Foreword by our Chair It has been a pleasure to Chair the reach Rural Partnership throughout what has been Bridgend County Borough’s first rural development programme. It has been a period of learning, investment and growth in our County Borough from our valleys area to the north right down to the coast in the south. This book is about the people living and working in these communities that have been working hard to deliver their ideas and aspirations and it has been a privilege to be able to support them in their efforts. Through this programme, we have been able to identify areas of need, develop solutions to the challenges faced in our rural communities and support communities to support themselves and each other through shared learning and important activities like networks and mentoring. We have worked with and across all sectors, developing projects from the grass roots level that connect the community, voluntary and small business sector. This has led to increased capacity in our communities, better skills to create the changes that people want to see and a stronger economy creating new market opportunities and jobs. I would personally like to thank my colleagues on the Bridgend Rural Partnership and the members of the Local Action Group over the seven years, many of whom volunteer of their own time in order to actively participate in the delivery of this programme and ensure that the benefits go to those who need them most. -
