A FEW WORDS FROM FATHER FRANK

I would like to begin by offering a belated word of “congratulations” to all the young ladies from Saint Saviour High School who received their school ring at a special ceremony held in our church on Friday evening, March 5th. It was a beautiful ceremony carrying on a tradition that has been part of the high school experience for countless years. I am grateful to Father Kevin for blessing those rings and to Dr. Paula McKeown for her guidance and leadership as the principal of our high school. I also thank all our teachers, administrators and staff who continue to support, educate and guide the young women from Saint Saviour High School every day. We are blessed to not only have a high school, but to have such talented and dedicated people who tirelessly give of themselves each day to see our students succeed. Please continue to remember in your prayers all our young people here at Saint Saviour Parish. Tomorrow evening beginning at 7:30 p.m. we will have our annual Communal Penance Service. Father Kevin will be presiding and we invite ALL the members of our parish family to come out and join us and experience the healing power of God’s forgiveness. Remember, the liturgical season of lent is one that challenges us to look within ourselves and take inventory of those things that continuously separate us from God’s love and our relationship with each other. It is also a time where we come out and seek forgiveness from the Lord for those words or actions that have separated us from God and each other. One of the most beautiful things about our God is that He always gives us another chance. We hope as many people as possible will come out and join us for this special service of prayer, forgiveness, and reconciliation. Don’t forget about Father Kevin’s Fund-Raiser next weekend in the vestibule of church. I am amazed at how popular this fund- raiser is here at Saint Saviour. People ask consistently when Father Kevin will be hosting another one. The proceeds will benefit the Catholic Cardinal Newman Club at City College of Technology, where Father Kevin serves as chaplain during the week. Once again there will be fresh home-made cupcakes, brownies, chocolates, chocolate pops and chocolate covered pretzels. Everything is only $1.00. Also next Sunday, our parish will be welcoming back the Glenn Mohr Chorale, who will be performing their Lenten piece “IT IS FINISHED” which recounts the final days of Jesus’ passion and death in word, song and gesture. They do a great job and it is a very prayerful and meaningful experience. Admission is FREE. I hope as many of you as possible will come out next Sunday afternoon and join us for this beautiful celebration of our faith. Finally, believe it or not, our celebration of Passion (Palm) Sunday is now just two weeks away. Once again the young people of our parish family will lead us in a procession around the church at the beginning or our 9:30 a.m. celebration of Eucharist (our family Mass). We invite our children to gather in the vestibule with Father Frank at 9:25 a.m. if they wish to participate. Have a great week everyone.
