OUR COMPUTER DEPARTMENT - SAU. L. J. PATHARE INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY : Scientific and technological advancement has influenced every facet of society. Its impact on our daily life has been so immense that it has forced changes in our behaviour and mindset. The rapid development in electronics, computing and communications has led to the creation of Information Technology (IT). The world is undergoing a sea- change due to the phenomenal growth of Information Technology and applications of IT in the form of computerisation and transmission of electronic information. With a view to keep pace with the changing times and to equip ourselves to meet the challenges posed before us in the present competitive era, we undertook to develop a computer training centre which has gradually developed as a centre for courses in IT. The University of Mumbai had received the permission from the Government to start new courses like B.Sc. in Computer Science on Non-Grant basis in June 1999. Late Mr. Jaykumar Pathare, an industrialist from Kalyan, came forward to help the Society with a generous donation for the proposed computer academy. This enabled us to construct a well equipped separate multi storeyed building for the Institute of Information Technology so that we could cater to the need of advanced education in the field of Information Technology at Bordi Centre. The College has started B.Sc. with Computer Science, a three years integrated degree course, from the academic year 2000-2001 and B.Sc. (IT) from academic year 2001 - 2002 the G.E.Society has proposed to start career oriented UGC recognised courses and the Open University courses in the areas related to Information Technology.
